FREDDY, SET, GO! HERE COMES THOMPSON

IN JUST two weeks, Fred Thompson will finally announce his formal entry into the 2008 presidential race and instantly become the biggest Republican threat to Rudy Giuliani.
The long-anticipated move by the former "Law and Order" star begins today with his arrival at the Iowa State Fair, where he will face his first real test before actual voters. Giuliani still holds a 10-point advantage over him in national polls, according to RealClearPolitics, but Thompson has seen his own support steadily grow while Giuliani's slowly erodes, from a high of nearly 40 percent earlier this year to below 30 percent now.
The biggest question for Republicans frustrated with the field is whether Thompson has waited so long to enter the race that he's blown any chance of capturing the nomination.
In the months since he began openly flirting with the idea, Thompson's fund-raising has disappointed supporters, he's burned through staff, and a negative story line about his wife, Jeri, meddling with the staff has begun to dog the campaign.
Yet he remains in the strongest position to pick off Giuliani, and hopes to become the real straight talker with big, gutsy ideas whose conservative credentials are beyond reproach.
Thompson's biggest gift over the last few months has been the collapse of Arizona Sen. John McCain's campaign. Once the presumed favorite, McCain is skidding barely above single digits in national polls.
Traditional political observers, of course, go berserk if you consider national polls.

Its more vague than it is open ended.
You wanna make more “specific” terms?
I’ll play $250, and give you until 09-06-07.
You really like Fred, don't you?
I do too.
To: W04Man; TopoGigio
You did notice that he placed a time constraint on it after the first posting, I hope. He is not confident enough to hold to his first statement.

They have also been called Pissanthropes because of Pissants advocacy on Hunters behalf. That term was coined for pissant ONLY, because of the political misanthropy he was displaying against Fred and his supporters. He has since been admonished by the forum management, and has cleaned up his act.

No, I didn’t. I merely pointed out the reason I was eager to take his bet. He hadn’t defined it, or as he put it, it was ambigious.
So, yeah, I jumped all over it. LOL

I know. It was 1 (me) against 20. It was a little unfair, so Jim had to step in.

This is the earliest presidential campaign season ever. Fred was not even contemplating this move until March. March to September is only 6 months
to get a team together that can build an organization.
Huckabee did a bit more taxing than that. See the ad from Club for Growth, a tax watchdog group.

IN JUST two weeks, Fred Thompson will finally announce his formal entry into the 2008 presidential raceI notice the article doesn't say who gave the author this information.
This silly speculation doesn't help Thompson at all. Of course, maybe that is the point.

“So, what are you saying, then? Are only Fred Thompson supporters allowed to post on Fred Thompson threads?”
Well, my understanding of good posting etiquette is to stick to the subject of the thread.
Like, if it is a thread about Fred, talk about Fred. And if you post something negative about Fred you can expect a defense. Some people refer to this type of posting as a troll or it needs a zot. Stuff like that.
It doesn’t make for an intelligent discussion IF the poster is only posting an insult or put down of the subject of the thread.
I don’t see why someone who isn’t a supporter of Fred couldn’t post on a Fred thread if the comment was adding to the discussion intelligently.
I’m not saying you did any of this as I was half asleep when reading through all the posts. Just a general answer to your question.
We get enough negativity from reporters and the press, it would be nice if it were possible to be civil with one another. But then some posters are probably Democrats trying to stir things up. Oh, for a perfect world.

Thanks for the info. Still haven’t found the perfect candidate, but then there are a handful I could vote for against ANY ‘Rat and feel excellent about it. The most important is that our guy WIN.
To: Extremely Extreme Extremist
But someone said Fred is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. If it’s true that explains why he is so cocky. As a rule, the guy who is supported by the CFR wins and wins big. You said “the GOP establishment has nothing to do with Fred running . . .” Really?
