Can you say a snowballs chance....
C.H. Spurgeon (1888) “This portion of our Saviour’s words appears to relate solely to the destruction of Jerusalem. As soon as Christ’s disciples saw “the abomination of desolation,” that is, the Roman ensigns, with their idolatries, “stand in the holy place,” they knew that the time for their escape had arrived; and they did flee to the mountains.”
I.E., the “abomination of desolation” was about the destruction of the Temple that was still standing when Jesus spoke about it to His disciples. He was not speaking about a distant future event with a “third Temple” which, by the way, is not mentioned anywhere in the Bible.
Books that I’ve found useful for reading and checking with Scripture yourself are: “Apocalypse Code” by Hanegraaff and “Last Days Madness” by DeMar.
Let’s see. out of 43 replies so far only 3 cared enough to look up the real title and that the article comes from WND. The first reply to that effect was #16 and of course, most of the following replies continued in the usual knee-jerk reaction as that could be anywhere near the truth.
Why is anybody still giving currency to cook articles from WorldNetDaily? It is sad, is no critical thinking involved anymore when it comes to things we can use simply to bash? Olmert is weak leader (if that word can even be applied to him) but jumping on each and any cook article with cook headline does FR a disservice and diminishes the impact when real and serious news are commented on.
wtf????
WHAT???!!!! I have never really believed in “end times”...but this action just might make me change my mind. What are they thinking??
no,
israel’s
not
going
to
do
that.
Ran across this post and thought you may be interested... I REALLY hope Israel’s government doesn’t back down on this! What a horrible thing this would be!
How about a trade? The Muslims get the Temple Mount, the Jews get the Grand Mosque in Mecca. Deal?
I used to think that Israel would be in total control until Jesus came to reign.
But that’s not really Biblical.
IIRC, Jerusalem is set to be “trodden by gentiles” one more brief period.
I don’t recall the specific Scriptures. Would take more time to research than I’m up to at the moment.
And, the Ezek ?38? war with Russia etc. is still in the future.
Certainly the USA and any Israeli government that kowtows to the enemies of Israel will find that God is on the side of the Israeli’s.
DOH! Wake up folks . . . prophecy is being fulfilled before our eyes virtually weekly . . .
Thanks, LR
Olmerde is insane..
At this point, why not? The Israelis should start looking for a nice sized island in the pacific and just call it ‘Israel.’ The biblical Israel is the Jewish people, not the land.
They are losing this one, fast.
Methinks you would possibly profit from an extensive study of Biblical prophecy referring to our era.
Your assumpateions are exceedinly flawed.
God took great pains to specifically and clearly outline THE LAND HE, ALMIGHTY GOD, WAS GIVING TO THE CHILDREN OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB
. . . FOREVER.
He also cryptically and somewhat mysteriously outlined some of the ebbs and flows—the tortured wars, dispersions and being recalled back . . . after the AD70 dispersal . . . to
THE LAND—THE SPECIFIC LAND . . . and how
THAT SPECIFIC JERUSALEM IN THAT SPECIFIC LAND
WOULD BE AN ENORMOUS BURDEN AROUND THE NECK OF THE WHOLE WORLD.
All quite specifically predicted. . . . and how
Russia, Iran et al will again attack and seek to destroy Israel . . . the attackers to be thoroughly trashed by God Almighty.
Stay tuned. Israel is far from down and out. They may be scared within a hair’s breadth of their existence.
God DOES seem to like cliff-hanger episodes.
However, nothing is more sure than that ISRAEL WILL END UP WITH THE LAND PREDICTED FOR THEM TO END UP WITH. And her enemies will be . . . thoroughly trashed, defeated . . . some to oblivion.
Never thought of it that way . All thats left to do is for one of them to stand in the mosque call themselves God in this case .
Maybe a few more homosexual parades and secular Israeli citizens and it may happen sooner than we think .
The whole world claims to be fighting terror, this is not true . If it were after 911 those two islamic hives would have been eliminated .
Only God will settle this dispute when the Messiah returns .
All of Israel should just go ahead and pack up and move to the United States. It would balance the electorate a bit and give the Islamic terrorists a singular target for their hatred.
You can't tell with any certainty that some prophecies are about our era. Too speculative.
If the "abomination of desolation" has already happened, who was the Antichrist who declared himself to be god in the temple and who was the false prophet? Where can I read about the billions of people who died as a result of God's judgment being visited on the earth during that time? Can you refer me to any kind of writings from that time that recorded all the rest of the judgments that God said would happen during the end-time Tribulation but apparently already happened thousands of years ago? How exactly was the population of the entire world fitted with the mark of the beast?
Thanks for your help. I guess I can stop looking for the promised second coming of Christ, since, I guess, that already happened too?
First of all, where do you read “billions” will die?
Secondly, look up “antiChrist” in your concordance and you will NOT find it anywhere in Revelation. The word is only found in 1 and 2 John. Read what it says for yourself.
Thirdly, regarding the “man of lawlessnes,” here’s what 2 Thess. says:
“And now you know what IS holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time”
Here’s a quote from Chilton on that subject:
“According to Roman imperial theology, the Caesars were gods. Each emperor was called Augustus or Sebastos, meaning “One to be worshipped.” They also took the name divus (god). Nero commanded absolute obedience and erected a 120-ft image of himself. For this reason Paul called Caesar ‘the man of sin.’”
Jesus told them that they (i.e. the people He was speaking to) would see the Son of Man coming on the clouds. God’s “coming on the clouds” meant coming in judgment. For example:
Exodus 16:10: While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the LORD appearing in the cloud.
Jeremiah 4:13: Look! He advances like the clouds,
his chariots come like a whirlwind,
his horses are swifter than eagles.
Woe to us! We are ruined!
In other words, Jesus was speaking of the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem and the end of the Age (Mosaic Age), not the Second bodily coming at the end of the world. “Those who pierced Him” were alive and saw it happen, and they knew that He is God because it happened as He said it would.
One more note: Notice the difference in the instruction given to Daniel as opposed to John:
Daniel 8:26: “The vision of the evenings and mornings that has been given you is true, but seal up the vision, for it concerns the DISTANT FUTURE.”
Revelation 22:10: Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the TIME IS NEAR.
“This generation” meant “this generation,” not “that” generation in the 21st Century. “Near” meant “near,” not thousands of years later.
To sum up, we fall into error when we allow modern day “prophets” to interpret Scripture for us, rather than allowing the Bible to speak for itself.
