The problem starts here, sub. FR is not a hate site, and the vast majority of FReepers are good folks. But there is that scabrous few who make the rest of us look bad. The problem is that that scabrous few outpost everyone else, and the end result is that people either stop posting entirely, or stick to lighter threads - which I usually do.
And, truth be told, the rest of us could do with exercising a bit of thought before we post some of the things we do, too.
I agree. The hate extends beyond racism and religious and ethnic bigotry - many of those posts end up getting pulled. It seems as though anyone who doesn't agree 100% with the predominant views is subject to hateful attacks. Anything less makes you a liberal socialist. What thinking person agrees 100% with anyone?
It breaks my heart. :(

(And then it occured to me: a real rocket scientist posted the Friday silliness thread on Thursday.)

I said as much the other day...that a 'dirty dozen' or so posters keep the vast majority of Freepers from posting their opinions on the Immigration threads. They terrorize everyone with their penchant for gang-banging and thuggery.
Somebody dared to suggest a poll to prove me wrong. LOL!
Thanks for your thoughtful post.
