I was listening to the news out of the corner of my ear when I heard FreeRepublic specifically mentioned as a "hate site" about fifteen minutes ago.
Ostensibly the long report was about the Klan using the web to recruit new wackos. Then the focus turned to Casa Maryland, and their director who claimed that calls for his murder had circulated on the internet by anti-immigrant bigots. It was then that the anchor identified FR by name as a hate site.
Like I said, in this context you really do not understand the meaning of the word "hate". What you are saying is that when somebody is called names, that is "hate". Well, "hate" is a term that is used to shut down websites and send people to jail (ever heard of hate crimes?), so you should consider reigning in your use of the word until you understand it better.

Yes I like FR because of the passion of the many who post and it is a clean family site most of the time.
I won't be making the meeting this week...I have this big "Right Wing Conspiracy" meeting I'm attending along with about 50 million other people that conflicts.
Thanks for the response, but directed venom and derisive commentary are far from hate. I am not going to defend CS nor presume to speak for him/her but although I might have phrased it differently, I see nothing wrong with the comment on the whole. Humans are emotional creatures and as such the emotions will come out in a comment at times. He threatened no one, called for no one to be harmed. If not for this mother, there would other mothers in Newark tonight anticipating their children entering college instead of holding on to memories and “what if’s”. I think CS just didn’t want to hear how well these monsters were raised and what good boys they are. I agree with him and I think if anything he called her just as he saw her and likely as she is. Exactly. I have to wonder if what we are seeing is the beginning of an attempt by a desperate political class to harness what, from their point of view, must appear to be an out of control medium, the Internet.
The common man used the Internet, and Free Republic certainly played a role, in the defeat of the globalists' "must have" immigration legislation. I don't doubt that people in high places were not amused.

Calling Mormons "Satanic worshipers" may fit your definition of 'Hate' but it doesn't fit mine. That's not how I would describe them altho I understand the sentiment, however my personal opinion of Mormon doctrine is not really the issue, to deem an entire forum with thousands upon thousands of postings a 'hate' site because you don't like the tenor of some of the postings is an extreme over-reaction.
As for gay-bashing that is another PC-laden term that is applied whenever a person does not like what is said about homos. Homosexuality is a deviancy and a perversion and an assault upon the God-given values of this country. Is THAT what you would consider gay-bashing?
