Two medical helicopters enroute to Utah mine after report of new collapse

They may or may not be illegals. They are definitely Mexican nationals, as they’ve said so, the reporters and the mining company itself. Now, the question is, do they have H1-B visas or greencards, both which allow them to work legally in the U.S. If the mining company sponsored these guys on H1-B visa’s, then they can legally work. If not, they are then illegal aliens, and are on the payroll when they shouldn’t be. It will all come out in the wash.
Reminds me a lot of the miners who moved up from the Eastern Kentucky fields when I was a kid.
In the statement from the safety boss who was exiting the mine during the initial bounce, he only knew the incident happened due to his text messager. He didn't hear it or feel it, and he was in the mine near the entrance.
Mother of rescue worked on phone, I could not talk to media, I would be hysterical, but she wanted to praise her son. Good on her.
BTW, she had not heard from him yet.
So, he even gets shredded for an honest stab—a folksy, blue collar standard sort of stab at humility.
Gads . . . he’s have to become Mother Theresa, the Virgin Mary and the Pope all rolled into one and then folks would still blame him.
UNimpressive.
google, “illegal utah miners,” and see what you find there.
There are lots of complete idiots out there.
I give him credit for doing the right thing, as far as I can tell, even if everyone else is doing the right thing, too.
I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes and I would want to be given the benefit of the doubt if I were.
He’s under more stress than we probably can imagine and I think he deserves to be judged kindly at the moment.
Im glad the guy opens his mouth rather than sit there and let the reporters tell him what to think.

AGREED. FAR MORE CANDID AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY than any similar situation in my memory.
And he shredded a reporter or 3 who very much had earned it. That earned him a lot of my respect.
“Arent the miners unionized? If so, I hightly doubt theyd be illegal.”
No, the miners at this mine are not unionized. That’s what lets me know the owner, Bob Murray, is a Republican rather than a Dem.
How about you do it?
Probably a half dozen Cornishmen, and maybe some Welsh guys in there ~ could be illegals.
This is a dumb question, I know. Can these bumps be felt outside the mine on the mountainor is it only felt if you were inside the mine/mountain?
~~~~~~~~~~~
No,,,Not a dumb question,,,One of the guys on the crew of
the trapped miners said he felt nothing nor heard anything,,
no sound,,,
Thanks...that is one of the articles I read a few days ago.
Do you mean the forceful, informed and take no lip from the reporters owner? That guy who is the type that made this country?
I think he does a fine job with the media.
Somebody needs to tell Megyn Kelly how many feet there are in a mile. Fox coverage sucks. The dude from the local Fox outlet (MaX Roth) needs to get hired.
Utah gov on the way, some rescuers could be trapped, per MSNBC.
Maybe I have worked for too many arrogant bastards who were in over their heads.
“HALO-EFFECT” is a very powerful, well researched psychological phenoema.
Blackwashing him because a cue or 3 reminds you of the list of other blokes in your experience is . . . understandable, not wise; not fair and probably not true to the situation.
MSHA spokesman...
6:30 pm mdt. 9 injured in bump. headcount ongoing.
Murray has said his mine not union.
