Again I think we are talking about the same thing here. Sorry if my tone seemed argumentative. It was not intended to be.
Well, mine certainly doesn't.
If “National Treasure” is how he treats history...well then.
Have you ever read the Book of Joshua? Do you want to take that up with God?
Book of Joshua? Deuteronomy? God is quoted directly. Again, for the slow.
humming: `Lord, I want to be in that number . . . (when the Saints go marchin in!)’
Considerable anger from the Saints, for some reason, when it was Arkies that took it in the neck (and no lack of confidence either: “the Saints”).
The Mormons were considering starting their own country in Utah back in the day: `Desereat’.
But the rest of the country wasn’t too happy with the Mormons’ Oriental/Arab-like practice of, uh, harems/wives #1-? . . . sooooo, the federal government came close to sending in troops, at least until the Saints knuckled.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch—frustrated with non-Saints moving onto their turf (& with props from the noble red man) the `Saints’ shot and butchered—scalpings, mutilations, etc.—an entire wagon train of `heathens’: man, history can sure suck.
Hey, it’s your thread St. Dan.
Personally, I see no reason to suppose that the perpetrators of the Mountain Meadows Massacre can be forgiven for their crime. They plotted and committed murder in cold blood. I believe that each will receive the full measure of punishment for his sins in hell.
Fortunately, I am not the ultimate judge in such cases.
The members of the Church had always asserted their constitutional rights and applied for statehood. There is not another religion on the earth that states as a point of doctrine that the Constitution and Declaration of Independence are inspired documents and that the Founders were guided by the direct influence of the Almighty. Your "starting their own country" assertion is pure nonsense. "Deseret" was the name they had petitioned with for statehood. It was called Utah after the Ute indians who lived in the area to spite the members of the Church.
I believe your Oriental/Arab practice is actually "Biblical". Perhaps you've never read the Bible and can be given a pass on that one.
Federal troops walked down State Street under General Johnston (who would later command at the fall of Atlanta during the Civil War) They walked throughout the city and withdrew when none of the predicted violent opposition occurred.
The first plots to be drawn on the city plan were for the different religions of the day. The Catholic cathedral that stands today in Salt Lake City occupies the original plat. Furthermore, it was to made known that all were welcome and press releases to the Eastern papers attest to this.
You have proven again that the empty vessle sounds the loudest.
Isn’t there some film about this with Jon Voight about to premier?
LOL. Ok, I get it. I’m sorry but the kooks have me a bit serious at the moment.
I could not agree more with all of those comments.
Lots here for those doing research

I'm LDS and I'm gonna have to call you to the floor for this comment. The article is a direct copy past from the church's official website and the poster made no comments about the post, just put it out there for everyone to see.
He isn't doing any more or less to make Mormons look bad or good then the church itself did by posting it on their website today.
September 11 is the anniversary of the overthrow of Salvador Allende's red regime in Chile in 1973--a victory for the West in the Cold War.
Thank you for that link. Very insightful. Terrible tragedy. It was without question a massacre.
