DERRY, N.H. (AP) - Republican Rudy Giuliani said Thursday that people should "leave my family alone" when asked by a New Hampshire woman why the presidential candidate should expect loyalty from voters when he doesn't get it from his children.
Answering questions at a town-hall meeting, Giuliani was asked why he should expect loyalty from GOP voters when his children aren't backing him.
"I love my family very, very much and will do anything for them. There are complexities in every family in America," Giuliani said calmly and quietly. "The best thing I can say is kind of, 'leave my family alone, just like I'll leave your family alone.'"
His comments were greeted with a smattering of applause from the audience of about 120 people. Giuliani urged them to judge him based on his performance as mayor and a federal prosecutor, and he launched into a list of his successes such as reducing crime and welfare and prosecuting organized crime figures and drug dealers.

“Republican Rudy Giuliani said Thursday that people should “leave my family alone””
Seems like his strategy with his own children.
Yeah... he should put some ice on it.
That only works for Dems.
It WAS a cheap shot. The same question could have been and probably was asked of Reagan. I do admire candidates who can tell people to stuff it with respect to certain subjects.
ah, but Rudy, as president will you really leave my family alone....will you allow my family to protect itself in case of a home invasion...will you let me make sure an underage girl in my family who may be with child, does not commit an unspeakable act, or will you give that child an adult proxy to commit legal murder....
Think about what your are saying Rudy...in the long run you don't really mean it...
Absolutely a cheap shot. I’d like to ask some of those reporters—”how can we believe anything you write when your kid is smoking pot?”
“why the presidential candidate should expect loyalty from voters when he doesn’t get it from his children.”
I would have asked him why I should trust him if he’s willing to cheat on his wife he swore to love and cherish before God.
Why do adults with kids themselves ask these stupid questions? His daughter is 17 years old for heavens sake. Who listens to a teen? All teens hate their parents. At least they feel free enough to vent. Can you imagine what would have happened to Chelsea if she were to speak out against Chillery? Ouch!
But you won't.
He loves his children so much his campaign website doesn’t mention their existence.

It sounds a bit like a threat.
...like I do.
Rudy cannot be what he wants to be: Mayor of the USA.
BS buddy. You decided to run for this position. Your family is fair game just like every presidential hopeful's family has been for decades.
No A cheap shot would be to point out that compared to Rudy, Bill Clinton looks like a good husband and father
“It WAS a cheap shot. The same question could have been and probably was asked of Reagan. I do admire candidates who can tell people to stuff it with respect to certain subjects.”
“No comment” and “none of your business” ought to be legitimate.
This is a MSM smear on Republicans. Remember Mike Wallace asking Romney if he had premarital sex?
Would Wallace ask Hillary if she has had lesbian sex?
Would anyone ask Hillary if she had 3 way sex with Bill watching?
There is a limit to this garbage.
Personally, I voted for Reagan over Jimmy Carter, though his private life was less exemplary than Jimmy’s.
I prefer Rudy over Hillary, and her private life is a lot worse than his.
Among so so many others. He would serve the party well to drop out now and save the embarassment. He can't win.
Not until you drop out of the race, Rudy.
