All of us can empathize with the grief of one who has lost a husband, son, wife, or daughter in Iraq. The death toll has climbed to over 3,200 and does not include the tens of thousands who have been seriously maimed or psychologically scarred.
Cindy Sheehan lost a son; she grieves over his sacrifice in an ill-conceived war.
Now, Sheehan has carried her loss into the political arena. It seems to be more about her now.
Because House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, has not led an impeachment battle against the president, Sheehan is running as an independent against her next year in San Francisco.
Of course, Pelosi will easily win re-election. Sheehan has no money and no chance in what amounts to mere symbolism. In addition, Pelosi has been one of the most outspoken critics of the war and was even making her voice heard long before she was elected speaker in 2005.
Pelosi recognizes that impeachment will go nowhere in Congress. Bush has botched the war, but impeachment would be a fool's errand.
You can criticize the speaker on other grounds, but not her inaction on the war. She has led the fight to bring the troops home, including resolutions vetoed by the president.
When Sheehan first organized demonstrations outside Bush's ranch in Crawford, it seemed like a heartfelt move by a mother who had lost her son. A small band of supporters joined her in trying to see the president to register their opposition.
As time went on, the media lost interest and the publicity waned. Sheehan came to Washington to protest further.
You can understand Sheehan's continued anger at Bush. But it is hard to understand her plunge into electoral politics. She has already made a powerful statement for her son. Running against Pelosi, however, makes no sense.
LOL. It wasn’t “pointless” until she started attacking lefties.
I’ll tell you what I think. This is pathetic that someone this lame may have a shot at the legislative process in our country. While funny on the surface, it is very telling about the idiots that elect our lawmakers. I could explain my thoughts further but doubt I need to.
Nope, Mr. Mashek, I can't, especially since her son volunteered, and by all reports, eagerly.

Just the opening broadside in the MSM conversion of Saint Cindy to Lunatic Cindy.
She was useful to them when she was the Bush nemesis. Now that she’s taking on one of the moonbat icons, her usefulness is over.
Her inate goofiness will now suddenly become apparent to the Pravda hacks.

It's not like we didn't try to warn her.
Indeed.
what ever happened to Sheehans’ reputed trip to Syria and Jordan ?
Everything this woman has done has been ‘pointless.’
Her son’s bravery, selfless sacrifice and devotion to duty makes a much louder statement than anything this attention whore has ever done.
It would be nice if Cindy takes out the senior democrat in the House.
Heck, I’d be happy if it just forces Pe-Lousy to spend more DemoDollars to keep her seat. Every buck spent there is a buck NOT spent trying to defeat a Republican.

Money and fame.....
Sheehan can grieve any way she finds necessary. But the bitch used my newphews name on one of her tombstones in Crawford and she had NO right to do that.
Shawn Hannity took My sister and brother in law to crawford where the Weobloweskis had to get the local sheriff to go MAKE Sheehan take that down.
Sheehan will forever be dirt in my mind.
And also notice how the press has relegated the Straight Talk Express to the status of the Iddy Biddy Ding Dong Choo-Choo now that McCain can no longer run against Dubya.
For some reason....having someone like her run against Pelosi...isn’t such a bad idea in my book. Check the numbers...the republicans don’t get more than 10 percent of the vote...at least for the past forty years. We have little to lose in this effort. Seeing Pelosi having to explain to her ultra left in the district why she won’t support their radical ideas...is a neat thing. I doubt she will do a podium to podium meeting with Cindy...but Cindy could toss up a empty podium and just do a open-mike to whack on Pelosi’s record (which isn’t that great anyway).
