Immanuel Velikovsky wrote many books about this in the 1950s and was treated as a nut by academia. I don't think Velikovsky is a nut. I'm not sure what book(s) of his you have in mind, maybe Worlds in Collision? But Venus didn't explode, in the Velikovsky scenario. What are you talking about?
