Michael Vick's attorneys are engaged in plea negotiations with federal prosecutors and the Falcons quarterback could reach an agreement before new dogfighting charges are handed down next week, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations.

Thats would be a simpler explanation for the sudden change to negotiate a plea.
Ok, I'll bite. Who's Marcus and why would including him in the supplemental indictment be a reason for Vick to enter a plea?
Michael Vick has a younger brother Marcus, who also played QB for Va Tech but was kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons following his junior season. He had a couple of run-ins with the law while at Tech, and another after he was dismissed. He tried to catch on last year, unsuccessfully, with the Dolphins as a receiver.
“My guess: No jail time, community service, huge fine, one year suspension from NFL, loss of millions in endorsements.”
I agree but you are forgetting he will also owe $28,000,000 in bonus money already paid to him back to the Falcons per Profootballtalk.com. I am sure he can write a check.(NOT)
for myself, this behaviour is what I would expect from a coddled gang/rapper type person with money to burn and local authorities in his back pocket ( the local DA and Sheriff are both black) who refused to do anything about this situation, and that is why the feds had to come in.....
isn't it funny that dog fighting was more the epitome of southern WHITE trash and rednecks....my, how times have changed...
I heard they were RICO charges, which would mean much longer prison sentencing.
NAH... Being a celebrity is an advantage in avoiding indictment. Once indicted ,however, it is a decided disadvantage. The reason is Judges ( Federal judges in particular) see an advantage in giving high profile defendants more than average sentences as a deterent value. “ Pour encourger les autres”.
Ok- I may be hallucinating (auditory)..I just heard Shep say not 5 minutes ago that Michael Vick pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda and is being investigated ..
NOT making this up...
Looking for link..
I heard the same thing.
Whew..you know..when you HEAR something that bizarre..it makes you (or it made me) wonder if you’re losing it...
Nothing up on FOX yet though..still searching.
Thanks for confirming I’m not going nuts:)
Perhaps we are both going nuts! LOL
RICO threats are sometimes used to induce a defendant to take a plea. While this case would meet the technical requirements of a RICO prosecution those types of cases are more difficult and prove to be expensive. If you are looking at 100-200 million in asset seizures then RICO might make sense. Don’t think VIck has that kind of dough...But his house is bye-bye.

I think it’s a hoax..here’s the scoop...sorta
Thanks, I thought it was too bizarre to be true. But, these days, you just never know.
dogs,dogs,dogs....
Does anyone remember the plight of 35 MILLION unborn HUMANS?
Ricky Williams was one thing. The CFL wouldn’t touch this guy with an 11 foot pole. Lots of pet owners in Canada too.
There is surely a thread for you to talk about that on if you so desire. This thread is about Mike Vick, not abortion.
Sounds like what’s going on. The feds are playing hardball, that’s for sure.
Yes, I do remember their plight.
In fact, I have read about their plight on numerous occasions on this very website in various threads dedicated to discussing their plight.
This, however, is not one of those threads. This is a thread concerning Michael Vick and dogfighting and tax evasion and possible RICO and/or conspiracy charges. As far as I know, Michael Vick does not perform abortions.
Speaking of which, might I suggest you check out one of the abortion threads making the rounds on Free Republic? I promise you I will not interject “Michael Vick” comments on any abortion thread.
28 million dollars!!
Well I guess he can become a rap artist and call himself, Can I Borrow 50cent.
