We’re still waiting for the official word from the National Hurricane Center, but the tropical meteorology folks in the U.S. Navy have already made their call: Tropical Depression 4 is now Tropical Storm Dean.
Its ultimate path is still unclear, and it might not become much clearer until the hurricane hunter planes take a look — at the moment, that’s apparently scheduled for Thursday. But given the neighborhood it’s tracking through and its potential to grow, it’s a good idea for anyone from Florida to the Carolinas to keep an eye on it.

MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Dean formed in the open Atlantic on Tuesday, but remained far from land, forecasters said.
At 11 a.m. EDT, the storm was centered about 1490 miles east of the Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean. It had top sustained winds of 40 mph, just above the threshold to be a named storm.
Not that I want another Fran or anything... but we sure could use the rain up here in NC...

In Sarasota, it seems we’re finally breaking out of our dry spell. We’ve had rain almost daily the past week.

It’s going to get to the east coast, let out a YEEEEEAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH, and fade away to sprinkles.
OMG, I didn’t even think about that! This is one storm I am going to be hoping forms into a hurricane now just so we can post the Dean yells!

It’s nice to see Karl Rove conjured up one more tropical storm before retiring.
This is NOT as bad as it could be. The only answer to prevent hurricanes like this from continuing to occur is the immediate impeachement of everyone in the BushCo Regime! They need to be thrown in a Turkish Prison, their families need to be enslaved, and everyone who considered voting for BUSH needs to be publicly flogged! Hillary! is the way and the light! Death to Republican Imperialists!! BUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Or, so I heard on the Dem Underground. I hope that we get a little rain out of this storm, we could use it here in the Southeast.
It will take a hard left first....
