Karl Rove to quit
Yahoo! News ^ | 8/13/2007

Karl Rove, a political adviser to President George W. Bush and a lightning rod for anger among Democrats, will leave the White House at the end of this month, Rove told the Wall Street Journal.

"I just think it's time," Rove said in an interview with the newspaper published on Monday.

"There's always something that can keep you here, and as much as I'd like to be here, I've got to do this for the sake of my family."

“I’ve got to do this for the sake of my family.”

Oh give me a break. People in Rove’s type of position never put family first. Third or fourth, maybe.

I thought the same thing. I heard on TV this morning that he said that, and then they said he had a son in college. That's a little too late to start putting the family first, in my book. Not saying the man is a bad father or anything - just that that was a lame excuse.

“Plus, his bank account is probably getting a bit low.”

In 2005 his net worth was between $1.5 and $6 million. Now I know that’s not Bill Gates territory, but i think that somehow I could force myself t live on it.

I suspect we are being overly optimistic about Rove’s reasons for leaving. Given the indictment climate brewing in Foggy Bottom, Rove’s departure may be related to one or more of thoise investigations. Hope not....but that is the FB mill..

A very dark, but compelling assessment.

Just wait. The MSM will have this spun up in no time as Rove leaving being because the Dems drove him out, which is preposterous.

Which, of course, is why he left in August, when those loudmouths couldn't say so much.

Yeah, Rove did manage to get GWB elected against some pretty pitiful Rat candidates and did help to install some pretty shameful RINOS like Spector. This administration with their Compassionate Conservative crap has managed to do much damage to the Conservative base. At best, he was a foil to keep the idiot hatred focused somewhat off of others on the right. I hope he doesn't do another expose’ book like many of the other x-appointees!

Yeah, but how much of that money went toward legal bills in defending himself against Fitzgerald’s perjury sham, which ended up snaring Libby?

Rove had nothing to do with 2006. Congressional Republicans screwed that pooch.

Whoa. Gotta step in here. Karl Rove almost has complete blame for 2006, and as you mention congress has the other pafrt blame.

After 2004, Rove was given carte blanch at running the RNC and installed Ken Mehlmann as chairman. The overall archetect was supposed to continue GOP dominance for years to come, yet he got beat by Howard Dean. Does anyone remember that short lived "Rove you magnificent bastard" ping list?

Rove had some good wins, but he has attained mythological status due to the anger on the left. I personally think he's overrated.

Rove batted 1000 with regard to George W Bush, winning every election Rove managed.

Not quite true. Rove managed Jorge's unsuccessful run for the US Congress from Texas in 78. I believe it was from the district around Midland-Odessa.

Duty, Honor, Country.

Karl, grab some fenceposts and cement and meet the Homeland Security chief at the border.

Okay, I think Rove was way overrated too. He coasted at the end of the 2000 race, only to be beaten in the popular vote because of a last minute dem dirty trick with the dui story.

In 2004 he was behind until the Swift Boaters stepped in. Albeit, Rove's voter identification and ground game plan was instrumental in kicking Kerry's rear.

In 2005 and 2006 Rove's advice saw Bush's approval rating gradually drop and Rove's effort at running the RNC election were disasterous.

Isn't this what the dems have been saying for 8 years? Bush has no thoughts of his own, everything was orchestrated by Karl Rove--Ridiculous.

Yeah the preparation strategy etc for that debate was all Bush--Rove (his politicala dviser) didn't have any input at all --Glad you set me straight

The “ports deal” was a CIA front to get our agents into 137 ports in which we have little intel capability.

Thats a BS front story floated by Tony Snow in Rowan Scarborough's latest book "Sabotage". Its a bunko story to CYA after they tried to sell out America.

We wouldn’t be talking about Rove right now if the left hadn’t decided to make him the bearer of all evil.

It’s not much of a cover story. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
