Cheney urging military strikes on Iran
McClatchy ^ | August 9, 2007 | By Warren P. Strobel, John Walcott and Nancy A. Youssef |

Nor is it clear from the evidence the administration has presented whether Iran, which has long-standing ties to several Iraqi Shiite groups, including the Mahdi Army of radical cleric Muqtada al Sadr and the Badr Organization, which is allied with the U.S.-backed government of Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki, is a major cause of the anti-American and sectarian violence in Iraq or merely one of many. At other times, administration officials have blamed the Sunni Muslim group al Qaida in Iraq (my emphasis) for much of the violence.

Big Media (BM) news tells us that the United States is breeding large numbers of terrorists in Iraq. But where are they? They don't do anything. BM news never reports any terrorist activity in Iraq. Violence in Iraq is always by "insurgents" although they are reporting that some is done by "militants" now and, as McClatchy reports, from "Sunni Muslim" groups like al Qaida. It is time for BM news to announce that the Bush policy has eliminated terrorism in Iraq--a significant gain in the War On Terror.

The time has passed. They won’t.

Democrats are invested in defeat.

Defeat will be inevitable, according to them.

Since terrorists are stateless, there will never be a defining moment, but our Men are kicking ass, which pisses off the MSM and the “American” Left.

Wouldn’t quite call it “over” yet, but General Petraeus will likely have news even the MSM can’t suppress.

The D’s, of course, will take credit because they magically “brought accountability” to the effort. Spawns of Satan.

Saying terrorists have been eliminated in Iraq is a bit of a stretch but yes our troops do seem to be putting the boots to them these days.

The toughening U.S. position on Iran puts Karzai and Iraqi leaders such as Maliki in a difficult spot between Iran, their longtime ally, and the United States, which is spending lives and treasure to secure their newly formed government.

Wow! Silly me. I thought Iraq and Iran had been at war for most of the years before Operation Desert Storm.

I really don’t expect them to credit Bush with success against terrorism. The point is that BM news is consciously avoiding the use of the word to disconnect Iraq from War on Terror. In fact, I don’t believe they called any of the plots in Britain terrorism or described the conspirators as terrorists. It is incongruous for BM news to report an increase in terrorists but then never report that terrorists are involved or behind the violence. It’s as if it were some sort of do-nothing club.

You would never know it from the way Al-Maliki was publicly holding hands with "I'm-mad-in-the-head" Ahmedinejad in their meeting last week...

Our troops are way too good for these clowns...

I can see from some of the replies that I wasn’t clear. It was tongue-in-cheek to say that the US has eliminated terrorism in Iraq. The point was that BM news won’t identify terrorist acts as “terrorist.” Instead, they use “insurgent.” I recently read a news story which appears to be the beginning of a newer, more benign term: militants. And then McClatchy cranks it down even more by calling al Qaeda a “Sunni Muslim group.” We’re looking at a subtle, long-term brainwashing effort from BM news to disassociate Iraq from the WOT.

Problem with Iran is going public to gain support for strikes
against training sites
Critics will say it is Weapons of Mass Destruction type lies

But as far as nukes go the public will have no problem believing Iran is working on them

Here’s a better idea.

1. Fund and arm Iranian diaspora, and give them military training.

2. Broadcast exiled political parties into Iran, so that the public can here their fellow Iranians, and know that there is a real alternative.

3. Ship Iranian exile forces into Iraq and Afghanistan, and let them slip through the borders. Broadcast messages to the public telling them that liberation is coming and to revolt against the mullahs.

4. Have the US announce its support to the rebels and their new government.

Iran needs its own Bay of Pigs type of invasion, but planned carefully so that it succeeds. The US can reap the benefits of having one of the worlds greatest financiers to terrorism dead, and a new friendlier state that won’t harass us in Iraq or build nuclear weapons. All without using US forces, and damaging the US’s reputation.

I was just thinking the same thing as what you put in your post.

if in fact that Cheney did suggest hitting training camps in Iran, that would do nothing but lead right into the Iranian leaderships hands. They may in fact want that and even go as far as expect it.

I usually agree with what Cheney comes out with but in this case, I’ll have to disagree.

If we bomb their training camps, they’ll just build some new ones and have tons of propaganda to spew. But to build up and fund Iranian opposition groups does a lot more damage to the current Iranian government.

Good post!

I read the article and copied a quotation from the article just to see that it is the same as the snip you posted in the header. It does stand out!

When I read this, I get a picture of the US up on it's Texas heels just humping away at Iran like a sex ravaged bison.

Well, enough of that. I think Iran and the Satanic wing of Islam are the one's doing all the breeding. Of couse that doesn't account for the US media. I'm still working on that one for my grand unified theory.

In the end, I'm sure rats will come into play somehow...

It’s long past time for SOMEBODY in this administration to tell Iran, “The next time a US serviceman is killed by an IED that can be traced back to Iran, we will consider it an act of war and bomb your sorry behinds to smithereens.”
