CEDAR RAPIDS - Republican presidential hopeful Rep. Ron Paul's ``freedom revolution'' hit Cedar Rapids tonight, gathering up recruits with calls to end the war in Iraq ``and the war on our liberties'' at home.

More than 200 people, many who said they had never been involved in politics , cheered his call for abolishing the income tax, leaving the United Nations, returning to sound monetary policies and the end of entitlement programs that erode personal freedom.

``People believe government will take care of us,'' said Paul, who called himself a ``reluctant candidate.'' ``They talk about entitlement as if they are rights.''

Social Conservatives support Dr. Paul (Paul is a devout Christian, faithful husband, and is pro-life)

Fiscal Conservatives support Dr. Paul (Paul supports a sound money system, low taxes, free and unregulated markets)

Libertarians support Dr. Paul (Paul supports reducing the War on Drugs, supports limited government, end to unelected foreign alliances)

Populists support Dr. Paul (Paul wants to withdraw from the UN, opposes free trade agreements, is pro-border security, opposes the NAU, low taxes mean manufacturing jobs return back to the U.S.)

Swing and independents support Dr. Paul (Paul's honesty and solid record means he can be trusted)

Paul bashers, start your engines...

I can’t wait until Sunday when he will be gone from Iowa for good. Tired of seeing those stupid “Ron Paul Revolution” with the “evol” letters spelled backwards on the overpasses.

Fiscal Conservatives support Dr. Paul...

He is not fiscal conservative:

I am seriously concerned for the well being of you Paulistinians.

Perhaps you could use a reality based hobby.

While that seems troubling, I’d like to know more about the amendments he said “no” to - maybe he objected to parts of them? Maybe some of them had other directives he opposes tacked on?

Sounds like your making excuses for someone who voted against more than 2/3rds of the anti-pork legislation before the house.

Follow the link for the names of the bills. Go to the House.gov site to find out what is in them. Do some research and discover for yourself that he is not a fiscal conservative.

He talks a good tale, but so do a lot of politicians. In DC, talk is cheap.

I can’t wait until Sunday when he will be gone from Iowa for good.

Pundits are already predicting Paul will finish no worse than 3rd. Even then, he still enjoys support over the Internet & has more money and name recognition than all the other lower-tier candidates.

Tired of seeing those stupid “Ron Paul Revolution” with the “evol” letters spelled backwards on the overpasses.

Paul has no control over who supports him, and he has condemned the radical fringe groups or individuals that do.

Of course they’ve never been involved in politics. The mentally incompetent are not normally allowed to vote in most states.

Why do you care anyway?

Perhaps you could use a reality based hobby.

If people want to support someone, what business it is of yours?

So this is how you denigrate folks who are turned off by politics as usual?

Paul's supporters are Americans from all walks of life, deeply concerned about the direction this country is heading.

Your snob elitism is typical of those who blindly vote for political party hacks.

Yeah, well they would of had over 400 people but most of the others were too stoned to make it.

Shouldn't you just say that Paul has deceived all those people into thinking he is a conservative instead of a moderate libertarian. Conservatives shouldn't blindly support someone who talks on one side of his mouth about being a Constitutionalist, and, with the other side of his mouth votes against securing our borders (Bill HR 2586 ; vote number 2001-356 on Sep 25, 2001) against restricting minors crossing State lines to get abortions (Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act; Bill HR 748 ; vote number 2005-144 on Apr 27, 2005), against making it a crime to harm a fetus during another crime (Unborn Victims of Violence Act; Bill HR 1997 ; vote number 2004-31 on Feb 26, 2004), etc, etc, etc.. (not even going into my differences with him on the WOT.)

It's all a game to Paul, and Conservatives are his pawn deJour.

Nor is he a social Conservative, nor is he a Defense Conservative. Ron Paul is a moderate Libertarian who is even to the left of Rudy.
