They didn’t get the case right (Hutchins is squad leader for the Pendleton 8, not the Haditha Marines), but at this point, I’m just happy someone is finally paying attention at all. The Marine veterans discussed in this article are the ones I’ve been working with for the last year and a half both directly and indirectly. I’m glad the story is finally getting out.

The thing that made the allegations about Haditha so potent is that Murtha and the media LIED TOGETHER! For instance, Murtha lies in the first part of the interview below. Then George Stephanopoulos throws in a lie from TIME about a Marine taking pictures of Iraqis before they were shot...

The media should be contacted and asked to demand answers from Murtha for the grossly untrue statements he made to Wolf Blitzer, Chris Matthews and other media about the Haditha Marines. What he said was blatantly false and he deprived these Marines of their presumption of innocence.

Murtha’s offices should also be contacted to demand an accounting from him.

The experience of combat is difficult to understand intellectually and very difficult to appreciate emotionally. One of our Nation's most articulate Supreme Court Justices, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., served as an infantryman during the Civil War and described war as an 'incommunicable experience.' He has also noted elsewhere that 'detached reflection cannot be demanded in the face of an uplifted knife.'
