August is so boring. Writers are desperate for something, anything, to say. So they engage in tail-chasing exercises like this one.
No campaign is going to make any major moves in August. People are simply not paying attention. Fred will announce in September, as has been his plan all along.
It is not Fred’s job to fill their column inches. It is Fred’s job to be elected President of the United States. That is a big enough job without having to worry about making sure political reporters have something to file.

I heard they also ate hummus made by a Jewish woman who cooks for CFR luncheons on Thursdays...

OK, I posted this on another (lackluster) thread (so I'm coming clean). I really do want to support Fred...really. And I sincerely hope he's put this time to proper use, building a campaign staff of national capability, ironing-in important supporters within the party and preparing to raise prodigious amounts of money (all things that can't be turned on a dime). When I’ve seen Fred speak he says pretty much what I would say, and since I’m one of the most brilliant minds in the country I support Fred!
Fred and I have a feel for the pulse of the country and he’s striking the right chords, just like Reagan did.
