Why do they hate us?
Americans have been asking this question for nearly six years now, and for six years President Bush and his accomplices have been offering the same tired response: "They hate us for our freedoms." With every passing year, that answer becomes less convincing.
Part of the problem has to do with the question itself. Who exactly are they? Are we referring to al-Qaida and its cohorts? Are we talking about Iran, Syria, and the other nation-states whose interests in the Middle East do not properly align with America's? Or perhaps we mean Hamas, Hezbollah, or the myriad religious nationalist organizations across the Muslim world that share neither the ideology nor the aspirations of global, transnational groups like al-Qaida, but that have nevertheless been dumped into the same category: them.

I was in college during the demonstrations against the Shah of Iran.
I got to talk with several Persians who never went back to Iran. The Muslim takeover surprised them. They thought they would have a western style Democracy.
It was their opinion that Islam is mis-translated into English. They thought it meant something closer to slavery, rather than submission.

The fact that they do, and that the only way to change that is convert or die, should be sufficient.
I'm not converting, nor do I plan on dying, so I reckon their attitude toward me isn't going to change.
We did not wonder why the Nazis wanted to conquer the world, nor the minions of Benito Mussolini, nor the Communists, so why all the sniveling and groveling all of a sudden?

The Islamic Empire is the political establishment of Islam, not the “religious”. There should be no tolerance for the supremacist politics of Islam.
Some “moderates” say that there would be peace if we’d just “leave” muslim lands. That concept of “muslim lands” is wrong. Morally wrong. Even citizens of those nations who convert away from Islam would be persecuted. This isn’t “East vs. West”. This is Islam vs. all else.
Our freedom of religion is an affront. Our freedom of speech condones “blasphemy” against Islam. These are among those “freedoms” they do not like.
Impeached president Clinton weighed in on the issue of the “12 cartoons” and said that the cartoonists should be prosecuted for their handiwork.
The Left has already surrendered.
Not this American. And frankly I don't care as long as they fear us.

Ironic that an Islamic lawmaker swore in on that Koran and the media tried to spin it that Thomas Jefferson was interested in “diversity” of viewpoint and THAT was why he had a Koran, not because of the pirates.
i like motorcycles enough, haven’t been on one since i was a teen and ran into the back fence, probably best that i don’t get on one, no problems driving a car :)

Much easier for the Russians, Germans, and French to complain about Bush’s war than to admit to the payoffs they got from Saddam.
The group of muslims insulting Americans on their own soil, in front of dozens of people shown in the video, have a sign in which it is written “Oh, muslims, you know who is your enemy. Isn’t it obvious” ?
