Well, I’m not going to defend Bush against something like that since for the most part it’s true. Though I haven’t heard him call Islam a Religion of Peace in a long time.

But yeah.. letting Iraqi refugees come here, not sealing the border.. inexcusible.

I’m not a critic of Neocons.

Neocon is too overloaded for a term for me to say it has any definition.

The word means whatever the person speaking intends for it to mean.

Calling Islam a ‘religion of peace’ is a tactical move... you don’t want to unify a religion behind a cause, you want to create divisions within that group. By calling islam a ‘religion of peace’ President Bush is appealing to the nature of all people to desire the best for themselves and each other instead of listening to the brainwashing they’ve received. It is a way to get moderate Muslims to reject the radical teachings of the jihadists. If more Muslims read the Koran like the Sufis (as spiritual allegories versus direct commands to kill others) then the world would be in a much better place.

Time will tell. I think that we may have to wait until it’s apparent that the high internet poll numbers do not translate into actual votes.

I’m not clear as to whether this is a fad or something more, but I suspect it is liberals and libertarians wirth computer skills stuffing ballots.

Ron is probably right. Remember now, our CIA was telling Reagan that the Soviet economy was only a little bit behind ours, but in fact it was on the verge of collapse. I give Reagan credit for winning the cold war, but I don’t think Pershing missles made much of a difference. I just think the Soviets saw the technology gap, plus Afghanistan
just destroyed them.

Remember now, I was sweating the draft in 1971-72 High School because of Vietnam. Tricky Dick ended the Draft in 73 I do believe. We were told time after time if we let the South fall to the commies a domino effect would follow and all of SE Asia would become communist.

Then we sided with Osama against the Soviets in Afghanistan. Saddam against Iran during their long war. As I get older, I’ve come the conclusion we should just mind our own business. Offer friendship to all, entangling alliances with none.

TexasAg1996, I want to say again you are really a breath of fresh air on these threads. Good to see ya.

I totally understand he said those things to signal to the Muslims that we targetting “Islam” per se.

On the other hand, to say “Islam is a religion of Peace” is lying to the folks at home.

So to me in the cost-analysis, the damage of the statement outweighs the benefits and it was a mistake for him to say it.

n a sense they are. Not in the mold of Mussolini, but in their belief of a very strong government. An activist governement. Exporting Democracy via war.

Actually, the comparison with Mussolini is correct in terms of philosophy and policy if not in actions. Mussolini believed fascism would become or was basically "corporatism" and "corporatism" is essentially what we have taking hold of the American system of government. With that push (or is it Putsch?) the Neo-Cons are at the vanguard of corporatist intentions and interests.

Do you have frequent online or conference calls or some form of training, items to read or education by Ron Paul or anyone associated with him?

An excellent point I’ve kept close since I got Bill Clinton in 92.

I know you’re just a kid so I’ll give you a history lesson. In 1976 and again in 1980 Ron Paul led the Texas delegation for Ronald Reagan. Reagan had long advocated returning to a dollar gold link since Nixon broke it in 1971, Ron Paul led the commision Reagan setup.

"Neocon is too overloaded for a term for me to say it has any definition.

So, it means too much, and anything.

Very well, then; I use the term to mean "globalist", which to me means people intent on building a global new world order governed by a socialist oligarchy. It especially means Americans who are engaged in this behavior, because if it accomplishes anything, it will destroy our country's sovreignty.

I also use it to mean "interventionist" in the sense of our own government interfering in the internal affairs of other nations, which can mean everything from war to giving economic and military aid.

As to the Neocons themselves, they also have provided a definition, which is much the same as I have written above.

Nope, I don’t. I lost my wife of 26yrs last October after a long fight against breast cancer. Besides playing golf and doing some travelling, I’ve become very active politically.

"..I suspect it is liberals and libertarians wirth computer skills stuffing ballots."

Could be, but here is one Paul supporter who has not voted in those polls.

My own impression is that Paul supporters come from all walks of life.

Even some Republicans!
