Edwards the Phony
contentions ^ | 8.9.2007 | Peter Wehner

Posted on 08/09/2007 6:28:58 AM PDT by Contentions

Matt Drudge has posted this headline on his site: “Editor For SC Largest Paper: Edwards Is ‘A Big Phony.’” That claim may qualify as the understatement of the political year. John Edwards has gone from what U.S. News & World Report describes as “the happy-face centrist” to the Candidate from the World of Kos. Has any ’08 candidate traveled so far (to the left), so fast, and in such a transparently false manner?

There are the predictable flip-flops. Today Edwards says the Iraq war was a mistake; in 2002, he insisted that “Saddam Hussein’s regime represents a grave threat to America and our allies. . . . [W]e must be prepared to use force, if necessary, to disarm Saddam Hussein, and eliminate Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction once and for all.”

How did he ever find his way out of South Carolina is the big miracle.

Nobody is taking Edwards seriously these days. The mistake of sending his wife out to do battle with Coulter only reinforced his ‘wimp factor’....which given the current situation in regards to the terrorists was flat out stupid politically.

Then there is the contrast between what he whines about from the stump, and how he lives his own life.

[Edwards] is Bill Clinton without the interns.

...Also without the political savvy. Think what you want about Xlinton (and I do), he is in the major leagues politically, while Edwards is semipro at best. It'll be his undoing.

One of the problems with some people that run for President. Their ego’s are so big, they will say or do anything to be King of the US. Or Queen in Hillary’s case.

The common household variety Democrat goes to the political convenience store to procure a candidate for President.

Clerk: Black or white?
Dem: You have a black? That’s wonderful! I’ll take a white.
Clerk: Male or female?
Dem: Wow, a woman in the race! What a great country! Give me a male.
Clerk: Experienced Old Fart or fresh scent?
Dem: I bought the experienced old fart last time. Let’s go with the fresh scent.
Clerk: Ken doll or ET?
Dem: Looks-ism is an atavistic mass psychosis, unfortunately incurable. It takes a village. Bush’s fault. Halliburton.
Clerk: This one lights up when it smiles, and says populist sentences.
Dem: I’ll take it!

Moral of the story: there’s nothing amusing about John Edwards.

Edwards is a girlie man

"We can't make John a woman; we can't make John black..." so says Elizabeth Edwards

The irony is they did make Elizabeth Edwards appear to be a dyke, and Johnny’s ‘her beard’....(chuckle)

Isn't that exactly what Bill Clinton did in 1992, when people started being mean to him? He sent his wife out to attack them.

Same conduct, different spin machine behind it.

And a completely different ‘era’. In 1992, we were still under the delusion that with the fall of the Soviet Union, all was well, and would continue to be ‘well’.

We don’t have that feeling as a country, for the obvious reason. I’ll also add, Hillary Clinton did more harm than good in that election cycle. Clinton won because Bush the Elder lied about raising taxes, which brought about Perot and Buchanan.

Without the tax hike, Bush the Elder would have been a two term President. Clinton was just the beneficiary of that unbelievably stupid political decision.

I’ve always wondered who, exactly, talked Bush the Elder into that one.

I believe Elizabeth Edwards thinks she can say anything because she is sick. These two are so twisted up in what they think they can say and do they look like fools. Problem is they are no doubt surrounded by like thinking people who egg them on.
