The "Googling" I did awhile back put 1936 as the warmest year. I believe it was followed by the coldest winter also. I guess it depends on where you were, to get the absolute highest reading. The Dakota's were devastated by the extremes then. The most revealing part of the Dust Bowl data was the lack of rain for about 9 years.

All this is why I don't give any credence to "man made" global warming. It goes through cycles, is easily verified, and is caused by the Sun. Man made global warming is a political plot to take your money, destroy America, and raise up the socialist "global citizen think".

Elect some of these wacko's next election cycle and get ready to turn over sovereignty to the UN or the Euro Zone. The Chinese will be driving BMW's and we will be on mopeds. Then the world will crow about how capitalism is a failure.

—yep—Lead, SD had both the high (100F) and the coldest (-36F) in 1936—
