Funny how I had the same results from the weight training I've done since my 30th birthday without using any performance enhancing drugs of any kind. Both my shoe size and hat size increased, along with my shirt size.

LOL...how convenient for your argument SoldierDad. I call BS.

You're either being deliberately obtuse or you're just a moron.

Gyms today are filled with guys who started working out in their thirties and are gaining muscle mass and size without the use of steroids or HGH.

When I was seventeen I joined the Navy - My first military ID listed my weight at 119 pounds. When I left in 1988, my ID showed 135 pounds. I didn't measure my bodyfat back then, but I would imagine it was around eight percent or so - I was pretty much a rail.

Between the years of leaving the Navy and when I got serious about my body in 2002, I played in a rock and roll band. I worked in bars and for other bands. stayed up late and got little sleep, I smoked, did many different recreational pharmaceuticals, drank my bodyweight in alcohol many times over, and had tons of sex with many women of ill repute. When I decided that it was time to hang up my party hat, I weighed in at a very unhealthy 245 pounds and my bodyfat percentage was around thirty or forty percent although I'm guessing because I took no accurate measurements. My blood pressure was high as was my cholesterol.

This morning when I checked my weight/bodyfat on my electronic scale, it read 195/eleven percent. My blood pressure is a steady 115/60, my cholesterol is thirty points under normal, and I turn forty-one in October.

I've never touched an anabolic steroid.

If I was able to accomplish all that in less than five years while still being able to work eight hours a day in an office, raise two children, and do all the normal "work around the house" what makes you or anyone else think that Barry Bonds couldn't have done it in twenty years as a freaking professional athlete?

I just love the way internet morons bandy about their expertise when it comes to steroids and bodybuilding or any other practice for which they have little or no practical experience. I'd be willing to bet most of those on this thread who insist that Barry was juicing couldn't tell me what a cycle is - but they know that steroids are bad cause they saw it on the tee-vee. They have no idea what glycogen is or how to regulate insulin and what that means to a person who's building muscle. They don't know how to compute their BMR or what relationship that has to daily activity and the types of macronutrients consumed. They have no clue what anabolic steriods really do to your body chemistry...

But everybody just *knows* that Barry was juicing...They *know* this because they *know* his hat or shoe size has increased...LOL Or they compare pictures of him when he was twenty to pictures of him today...

The mind boggles.

Thanks for this post and the ping. I love reading someone who has a clear and rational approach to an issue.

Obviously. But the issue at hand isn't muscle mass, it's bone mass. And working with weights doesn't increase the latter.

You're either being deliberately obtuse or you're just a moron.

Your opening sentence applies perfectly to the rest of your rambling post. Your anecdote about how you worked out and got bigger is very nice, but everybody knows that's what happens when you work out—you don't need to convince people of that simple fact.

But if you honestly believe that Barry Bonds didn't use steroids, you're either being deliberately obtuse or you're just a moron. And if you do believe that Barry used steroids (as many of his defenders do), then why are you slamming all the other folks that agree with you?

As an aside, my calling BS on the previous poster wasn't a statement that his claim was impossible; merely that it was strangely convenient for his hysterical defense of the Roid King.
