but it offers such rich diversity and culture!
Yes it’s multicultural. Yes it emphasizes Arab history, language and culture, but notably not Islam. Most of Gibran’s writings were about things other than Islam in the Arab world. In fact he is thought by most to be anti-religion based on personal experience with corrupt Eastern Orthodox Christian and Ottoman Empire Islamic officials.
Gibran has nothing to do with the school, did you take the time to even read this article?
Yes although the diversity is probably not [understatement of the year] of the type that we probably don’t wish to encourage within a public school setting.
The principal of the school Dhabah Almontaser is a Yemeni muslima, who wears hijab and who denies that the 9/11 hijackers were either Arab or Muslim.
Perhaps I mis read or mis interpreted your post, in which case I apologize.
yeah, these dudes are shameless, love that pic...
CAIR’s fingerprints are all over this school, hell the principal’s organization was selling intifada t shirts a few days ago and got caught
I would be very wary of a curriculum that leads sixth-graders to consider "world events" in the light of their nearly non-existent real world knowledge and those bits of information they are fed and manipulated into considering. That isn't education, IMHO, it's indoctrination.
This thing needs to be stopped NOW! The department of education wants New York taxpayers to foot the bill for this? They truly have gone mad!!!
He’s asking why would they name it after Gibran? The answer is, to fool locals into thinking the school is based on beliefs of a Christian pacifist, and not teaching extremist theology.
NYC has a gay high school named as a San Francisco guy.
I just scanned through the entire 29 pages of the Summary. No mention anywhere of Christianity or the involvement of any Arab Christian organizations, though the overwhelming majority of non-Mohammedan Arabs are Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox or Coptic Christians. The a substantial majority of Arabs here in the States are Christians. I do note that the Mohammedan Attorneys’ Association plays a role, however. :(
Good catch. Relates to NYC immigration patterns. The first Arabs in NYC were Christian (circa 1890s). The oldest Orthodox church in Brooklyn dates to around that time period. Later arrivals extended that community because of infratstructure of common language, food, etc. However, many of the Christian Arabs and early Muslims are so thoroughly assimilated by the fourth or fifth generation, they are no longer active in the community outside of a small number via churches or mosques.
The sad part is that Khalil Gibran was not a Muslim, but a new-agey fallen-away Christian.
Apparently the major league baseball player Khalil Greene (San Diego Padres) is an adherent of the Baha’i faith...if he was born into it that may explain his first name.
Brooklyn’s Khalil Gibran Madrassah Will Function As Jihad Recruitment Center
and the taxpayers have to fund this crap!!!!!
pc out of control!!!!
In college I saw and wished I’d bought, a sendup of The Prophet titled, “The Profit” by “Kellogg Allbran”, where the face is not enigmatic, but grinning with a wink.
Anyway, the wolf/sheep analogy is spot on. The Muslimah headmistress no doubt denies the Holocaust, as well.
There are so many ways a building’s infrastructure can be attacked........
