Flashlight Weapon Makes Target Throw Up
Fox News ^ | Tuesday, August 7, 2007

It looks like a big flashlight — but it's really a nonlethal weapon designed to make you sick.

Intelligent Optical Systems, Inc., of Torrance, Calif., has been granted a contract by the Department of Homeland Security to develop what it calls the "LED Incapacitator," according to a DHS online newsletter.

The handheld device using light-emitting diodes to emit super-bright pulses of light at rapidly changing wavelengths, causing disorientation, nausea and even vomiting in whomever it's pointed at.

For some reason, I can’t imagine General Patton saying, “The object of war isn’t to throw up for your country, but to make the other poor bastard throw up for his.”

Throw up? I have a flashlight that can put folks to sleep...a couple swift cracks to the skull and it’s night-night time...

Thank you for post #29. I’ve wanted to say that so many times. I suspect that those self appointed Post Police are the same people that join their local Community Associations so they can walk around their neighborhood to make sure all the neighbors are not breaking any sub division restrictions.

I heard some time ago, that certain sound waves have the effect of making people need to relieve themselves.

I believe this is a myth that was busted on MythBusters. One of the guys stood in a room wearing a diaper and was blasted by super-low frequency sound. Nothing happened.

So, which is a “bigger deal” to you, someone who points out post to that have “more” info on another thread like I did here, or someone who becomes a “posting stalker” like netmom. “Tattling” to the mods is pointless, when a poster can just make note of a possible dupe, or extended information and do with it what they feel is appropriate — including ignoring it. Real FReepers don’t have a problem with it - however those who spend too much time over at DU land always seem to. (That uncontrollable urge to stick their nose into a conversation they’re not part of)

To start with, I did not see that other thread that you posted and I would guess that hundreds of others did not see it either. Matter of fact that happens all the time. Many times the only thread that I read was the duplicate thread that you are so worried about and the only reason I found out it was a duplicate is because someone like you posted it instead of just going on with minding your own business. I'm guessing that doing such somehow makes you feel important.

Here is a thought: why don't you talk Jim into putting you on as that full time Moderator that Bill O'Reilly is saying that Free Republic should have.

So to extend your [flawed] logic, it also means that "hundreds of others" got to see both threads, and all of the mostly hilarious comments.

Hint: my little post just said "more:", not "you dupe posters should be burned at the stake..." sooooo... get over it.

Maybe they saw both threads but common sense tells me that they didn’t actually READ both threads. If they did, there would be a need for people like you to straighten them out.

I think you’re right, but one is a lot more vulnerable to, well, anything, when they have their eyes closed.

I’m a big SF fan with 2 lights and more on the way. I give these as gifts now - particularly the G something. As far as protection, check out the E2d — has a “wavy” top. You put that upside someone’s head and they’ll be dealing with serious scar tissue the rest of their life! Oh, and when they’re bleeding that bad, you can get away or do what you need to do.

What I don’t quite understand about the Z2 is how its used.

“I think you’re right, but one is a lot more vulnerable to, well, anything, when they have their eyes closed.”

No doubt you are correct, however I bet that with a little effort the device could be defeated with a cheap wavelength filtering mask. Think of the worldwide market for such a mask among hardcore rioters.
