HON. DR. RON PAUL: Well, that would be nice to have. Unfortunately, we don’t have that in place. IT WILL BE A LITTLE BIT BETTER NOW WITH THE DEMOCRATS NOW IN CHARGE OF OVERSIGHT. But you know, for top level policy there’s not a whole lot of difference between the two policies so a real investigation isn’t going to happen. But I think we have to keep pushing for it. And like you and others, we see the investigations that have been done so far as more or less cover-up and no real explanation of what went on.

I believe that 9/11 was done by 19 followers of a moon goddess. But I don’t understand why it is “the conservative position” to believe that the official government report is the whole truth. Why are we supposed to not question the word of the government that was responsible for Ruby Ridge and Waco?
I am not sure it will be better or worse if Dems are in charge of the oversight, so I don’t think I agree with Paul’s statement. But the glee with which Freepers slander one of the staunchest elected defenders of the US Constitution is disgusting.

Those sorts are so much fun to wind up that it almost makes up for the trouble they cause when they show up and stink up the place. XD

So now we just have your word for it? Yeah, right!
Oh, they were doing their jobs. I have no doubt that the employees of those agencies were going about their business, attending staff meetings and writing memos. But apparently their job descriptions did not include stopping an attack such as happened on 11 September 2001.
And why should they? Such an attack had never happened before. The plan was simple and unexpected. It did not require sophisticated technology or split-second timing, just an understanding of human nature and our pre-9/11 airport security procedures.
One more thing. You seem to think it incredible that our intelligence agencies could have been fooled. Remember, however, that these same intelligence agencies assured the Clinton and Bush Administrations and the Congress that that Saddam had large stocks of chemical and biological weapons, and that he was on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons. Everyone thought that the intelligence was solid. ("Slam dunk" was how the Director of Central Intelligence put it.) Apparently, fooling the CIA is not so difficult.
