T'wit, FReeper extraordinaire, has died.
self | August 5, 2007 | 8mmMauser

Posted on 08/05/2007 3:55:55 AM PDT by 8mmMauser

A great FReeper and close friend passed. T’wit, also known as Timothy Wheeler passed on. In tribute, I would like to make this the August thread of Terri Dailies, the topic foremost in T’wit thoughts.

Tim was a man of great faith, a faith that grew stronger especially in recent months. As I type this, I still am not yet coherent, as I try to awaken and sip a good coffee brought to me recently by Tim. In his usual fashion, he probably figured I would appreciate a little care package and would appreciate the better quality than the usual fare we would fix.

But I do not want this thread to be maudlin, nor a reminiscing on anecdotes, rather a stab at what Tim would want.

T’wit was passionate about the beauty of nature, of good books, good music, and intellectual challenge, but mostly he was passionate about his love for our America, for Jim Robinson’s FreeRepublic, and for our fight for those in the plight of Terri Schiavo. For the latter, he sought justice and fervently hoped and prayed we on Terri’s List would carry on this battle against the evils of those who would control who lived and died.

In our many talks, he would sound like a poster boy for all the stated position of Jim Robinson.

His wife told me last evening the final thoughts he had. As can be expected, it was for us to continue our fight as we have done already. She hoped that rather than flowers or donations sent, that donations be directed at causes like that supporting Terri’s Legacy, the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation. In this way, we remember him and further his wishes. T’wit and I talked a lot about faith and I can reassure all, his faith in Our Lord was strong and growing stronger, a comfort to me that he carried it to the end.

My words come out with difficulty this morning, but should flow better later, although without the word play and banter we would sometimes engage, at least for now. T’wit would be upset if I quit the puns for long, though.

We will continue our prayers for T'wit and his wife and family.

Quick to take a fence...

I would be quick to take it too, and anyone who chased a grim Spectre into the corner must have highly likable qualities!

Go, Mr. Sheldon, tear down that wall of hype, and help us build a real one. Thank you for your support of Terri.

..........................

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. - A Lancaster County consulting firm quietly is coordinating the building of fencing on private land as part of a project to seal the U.S.-Mexican border.

Diener Consultants, with offices at 1725 Oregon Pike, is advising the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a group with a national membership that aims to reduce illegal immigration.

"Diener is the driving force behind our political consulting, our message of how to respond to the president's inaction (on the immigration issue)," says Chris Simcox, president of the Minutemen.

Sheldon helped raise money for Pat Toomey in his 2004 GOP primary challenge of U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter.

Sheldon is perhaps best known for his lobbying efforts on behalf of Terri Schiavo, the brain-damaged Florida woman championed by the pro-life movement.

When the MCDC decided the federal government was not doing enough to stop illegal immigration and proposed the fence project in the spring of 2006, Sheldon and Kunz agreed to help with that project, too.

Arthur Miller, Playwrong...

What Arthur Miller did in denying his own son is just flat wrong. Yet, I have seen personally how this happens ad vomitum, and in those institutions where the kids wind up, we have been dismayed endlessly by the invocation of denial, of parents who drop off the defective kid and walk away, change their address, unlist their phone numbers and declare the kid nonexistent. My memory flashes immediately to a precious little boy who was hydrocephalic, had a shunt and otherwise was doing fine. He was bright and loving. Each time we would appear he would zip down the hall in his little wheelchair and cling to our legs, pleading with us for what love we could give. When we would leave, his dejected look haunted us. His parents were like Arthur Miller and countless others. I don't think he was happy there and don't think he survived any longer than a cut flower.

This thread is from reaganaut1 with thanks to TheSarce for the ping.

Arthur Miller, who died in February 2005, [and Inge Morath] had a son born with Down syndrome in 1966. Soon after, they made the painful decision to put the child, Miller’s youngest, in an institution for the mentally retarded before Miller essentially cut him out of his life.

Ms. Andrews describes in detail how Miller rarely, if ever, accompanied his wife on weekly visits to see Daniel, almost never mentioned him to shocked friends and didn’t mention him in his memoir, “Timebends.”

The picture that emerges is of a father in denial and a son who has moved on to live a happy life without him.

Arthur Miller was a disgusting person. So sad and how well live had rewarded him in spite of his limited talent. IMHO, he was way overrated - I found his work boring.

Glad to hear of the fence - we are being invaded.

Scary to have Specter in the US Senate.

Good for Scott! It does my heart good to see things going so well for him.

Indeed it does. Good things can happen with a little faith.

As summer days wax short like a dimming candle, and crowds enjoy the last hot dogs and good old American symbols of this close out, news is light especially on our topics.

Yet Christopher Hitchens just has to emulate the flickers of the fading candle, with his sparkles outdone by the dimming of want of faith. Here he shows us all a facet of the foolishness feeble faith fosters. With Terri facts, poor Christopher is made the dummie. Christopher counts the ways. Christopher, may we count the ways, too, on how wrong you are? Or why not spare us that embarrassing glimpse and end this last long weekend with a hot dog and a soda, like US?

Perhaps fact is the four letter f--- word in your vocabulary.

..........................

How do I dislike President George W. Bush? Let me count the ways. Most of them have to do with his contented assumption that "faith" is, in and of itself, a virtue.

~Snip~

It also explains the unforgivable intervention that Bush made into the private life of the Schiavo family: leaving his Texas ranch to try to keep "alive" a woman whose autopsy showed that her brain had melted to below flatline a long time before.

Thread by wagglebee, on eugenics. We persevere.

The looks on their faces were somber as they listened to recordings of the stories of those who were forcibly sterilized under North Carolina’s eugenics program.

About 300 people came to Winston-Salem State University yesterday for an opening reception and to see the state’s new exhibit explaining the program.

Christopher Hitchens despises all religion. It seems like the longer he’s a pundit, the less sense he makes and he’s married. I feel sorry for his wife but not much. If he hates American values, he should go back to the UK. He must be miserable here.

"We will not be silent."

By the way, why shouldn't the GOP have anti-abortion AND anti-euthanasia on their platform?

(of course Judge Greer and the death cult lawyers wouldn't like it. Judge Greer is a republican but he is a death cultist.

Should have put a barf alert on that article.

Been keeping the computer shut off for most of the time, because of the weather, so I didn’t post about the excellent posts about Tim(T’wit). The two eulogies were very cool.

This article about Bobby Schindler's battle with Dr. Death is in a thread by wagglebee.

...............................

Gainesville, FL (LifeNews.com) -- The family of Terri Schiavo is continuing its efforts to block a speech by Jack Kevorkian scheduled for the middle of next month. The speech would be the first for the former assisted suicide crusader following his release from prison for killing a disabled man and showing the death on national television.

Kevorkian would speak to students at the University of Florida on October 11 and receive $50,000 for the talk, as long as his parole officers approve the trip.

The family of Terri Schiavo has been leading an effort to stop the speech by gathering petitions from concerned citizens so Kevorkian doesn't get a platform in their home state.

They don't want the former pathologist telling students that people with disabilities should be killed, like their sister, rather than receiving appropriate medical treatment or rehabilitative care.

Bobby Schindler, Terri's brother, told LifeNews.com, "We have collected thousands of petitions (and they are still coming in) to deliver to the Office of the President of the University of Florida."............................

It's Rudy Tuesday again, time for another amazing tidbit, thread by wagglebee.

New York City, NY (LifeNews.com) -- Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani likes to talk about how he has lowered teen pregnancy rates and abortions by promoting adoption when he was mayor of New York. However, a new report finds teens in the nation's largest city have alarmingly high rates and over half of all teen pregnancies end in abortion.

Study Shows New York City Teenagers Have High Abortion, Pregnancy Rates (Contradicts Rudy's Claims)

Hillary promises unabridged horror from the moment she would fill Bill's old seat...

It may be a big seat to fill, but Hillary shows she has the cheek to do what it takes.

Portsmouth, NH (LifeNews.com) -- Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton campaigned in New Hampshire over the weekend and told voters that the she won't soften her hard-core pro-abortion views if she's elected president. That could cause her problems as a recent poll showed extreme pro-abortion views are a turnoff to women voters.
