A great FReeper and close friend passed. Twit, also known as Timothy Wheeler passed on. In tribute, I would like to make this the August thread of Terri Dailies, the topic foremost in Twit thoughts.
Tim was a man of great faith, a faith that grew stronger especially in recent months. As I type this, I still am not yet coherent, as I try to awaken and sip a good coffee brought to me recently by Tim. In his usual fashion, he probably figured I would appreciate a little care package and would appreciate the better quality than the usual fare we would fix.
But I do not want this thread to be maudlin, nor a reminiscing on anecdotes, rather a stab at what Tim would want.
Twit was passionate about the beauty of nature, of good books, good music, and intellectual challenge, but mostly he was passionate about his love for our America, for Jim Robinsons FreeRepublic, and for our fight for those in the plight of Terri Schiavo. For the latter, he sought justice and fervently hoped and prayed we on Terris List would carry on this battle against the evils of those who would control who lived and died.
In our many talks, he would sound like a poster boy for all the stated position of Jim Robinson.
His wife told me last evening the final thoughts he had. As can be expected, it was for us to continue our fight as we have done already. She hoped that rather than flowers or donations sent, that donations be directed at causes like that supporting Terris Legacy, the Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation. In this way, we remember him and further his wishes. Twit and I talked a lot about faith and I can reassure all, his faith in Our Lord was strong and growing stronger, a comfort to me that he carried it to the end.
My words come out with difficulty this morning, but should flow better later, although without the word play and banter we would sometimes engage, at least for now. Twit would be upset if I quit the puns for long, though.
We will continue our prayers for T'wit and his wife and family.

The state of Oregon legalized a form of assisted suicide in 1994, but its neighbor to the south, the nation's most populous state, has no such provision. Efforts in California to pass legislation allowing assisted suicide have failed five times over the past fifteen years. California has adopted liberal legislation on any number of controversial issues, but not this one. Why? Assisted suicide proposals have been thwarted by disability rights activists.
The logic of the disability rights movement is easy to understand. Once a society adopts a right to die as a matter of policy, a duty to die cannot be far behind. This logic is already evident when it comes to babies born with Down syndrome. Among many doctors and ethicists, the question has shifted from the right of parents to abort a baby diagnosed with Down syndrome to a duty to abort.

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- More information is coming to light about abortion businesses misusing the heart drug digoxin to do late-term abortions. They are putting the health of women at risk in order to get around the national ban on partial-birth abortions that the Supreme Court upheld as constitutional this spring.
As LifeNews.com reported last month, the misuse of digoxin has been around for years and abortion centers in the Detroit area are now using it to get around the ban.
Abortion facilities in Boston are also misusing the drug -- despite research from one study showing it could have damaging effects to women if the drug is accidentally inserted into her body instead of the body of the unborn baby.

Thanks for the link.
I heard on the radio that Romney spent more money than all of the other candidates combined (several million).
He bought the straw poll.
This backs what I heard on the radio up:
“A Democratic source who has tracked Romney’s ad buys said Romney had spent about $2.4 million on TV ads in Iowa, beginning in February and running consistently since May. The source estimated Romney had spent an additional $2.5 million on campaign materials other than television in the state.:

Sonia Cintron said she had a loving home waiting for her granddaughter if only child welfare workers had called.
But they failed to remove the 21-month-old from her hellish Staten Island home and she was allegedly brutally beaten by her mother's bad-news boyfriend.
Early this morning, Hailey Gonzalez was to be taken off life support so doctors at Richmond University Medical Center on Staten Island could remove her heart in order to donate it to another little girl, said Cintron's husband, Gilbert Reyes.
"We've said our goodbyes," he said.
Cintron believes hazel-eyed Hailey is the latest child to fall through the cracks of the Administration for Children's Services, which was monitoring her case.
"If ACS had the best interest of my grandchild they should have made every attempt to notify me," the 45-year-old secretary said yesterday from her tidy Jersey City apartment.
Hailey was taken to the hospital after allegedly being shaken and slammed in her crib by Edwin Garcia, 30.
The tot's mother, Marlene Medina, 24, didn't call 911 for five hours after the incident, according to court documents. Garcia and Medina are jailed on assault and endangerment charges in Tuesday's attack and due in court today.........................
I would have taken Hailey... Grandma outraged that ACS never contacted her after tot was beaten

Thread by wagglebee:
How are abortion clinics protecting themselves against charges under the partial-birth abortion ban?
By ensuring unborn babies are dead by injecting them first with lethal drugs before aborting them.

Look what happened to Mikey's site! Thread by wagglebee. Maybe we can email over some Kleenex.
St. Petersburg, FL (LifeNews.com) -- TerriPAC, the political action committee created by Terri Schiavo's former husband, has paid a $1350 fine to the Federal Election Commission in Washington. The fine was assessed after the group failed to file complete and timely reports. Now the political group's web site has been taken offline.
After ordering her painful two-week-long starvation and dehydration death in March 2005, Michael Schiavo created the PAC to target pro-life lawmakers who tried to stop him from killing her.
Michael created TerriPAC with his brother Brian Schiavo and, since its creation, it has frequently run afoul of the federal agency by failing to file its campaign finance reports on time or include all of the necessary information.

I'm going to send him a bread crumb and see if he can explain how it could nourish him.
Thanks for posting the link. It was fun to be able to talk with him “live” for awhile. Hunter is awfully busy, but he was the only candidate to spend time with us, at least so far.
I asked Duncan Hunter a pro-life question in post #10, and he answered it in post #50.
I’m glad Mikey lost the forum he used to spread lies.

In every speech I state that as President, when reviewing judicial applicants, any candidate for the bench who can view a sonogram of an unborn child, and not see a valuable human life, will not receive my appointment. This has been my position throughout my career and will be strongly emphasized in my Presidency. I will continue to make that known and continue to solicit co-sponsors in my legislation that establishes legal recognition of the unborn at conception.

Thanks for posting Duncan Hunter’s response. He’s a true pro-lifer.
imo, Hunter and Brownback have the most passion on the life issue from conception to natural death. I just happen to be on the same page with Hunter more on other issues, because he’s stronger on borders, China building weapons with American dollars, etc., but they are both very fine men.
Perhaps more facts will surface in subsequent articles.

A child welfare caseworker visited a Staten Island couple one week before the woman's boyfriend allegedly beat her 21-month-old daughter to death, as the mother stood idly by, law enforcement sources said.
Prosecutors were also looking into whether the boyfriend, Edwin Garcia, 30, served three years in a Mexican prison for child abuse, sources said.
Hailey Gonzalez was taken off life support at Richmond University Medical Center on Staten Island at 8 a.m. yesterday, her grandmother Sonia Cintron confirmed. Doctors declared the baby brain-dead on Friday, Cintron said.

But there was an amazing coincidence. They just happened to declare Hailey brain dead as they found a valuable need for spare parts.
When Hailey was taken off life support, her heart was donated to a child in critical condition.

But ever since Al Devlin suffered severe brain damage during surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in May 2005 and lapsed into what a neurosurgeon labeled a persistent vegetative state, the two people closest to him have not seen eye-to-eye on anything else.
Now, following a court battle that has raged for more than two years and split the Devlin family, echoing the Terry Schiavo case, Suzanne Devlin has won the right to disconnect the feeding and breathing tubes that keep her husband alive.
Dan Devlin, 60, whose designation as his brothers health care agent was overturned by a judge, vows to do whatever he can to stop that from happening. He believes some form of treatment might be found to help his 55-year-old brother regain consciousness and warns that if life support is discontinued before every option is explored, he will do more. Ill file murder charges, he said.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Scans have shown near-normal brain activity in a second patient who is in a vegetative state, British researchers reported on Monday in a study that may show a way to predict who is likely to recover from the usually hopeless condition.
And they said a woman who made headlines last year by playing a game of tennis in her mind has recovered somewhat from her vegetative state -- suggesting the theory may be correct.

And the first patient is improving.
"About six months after we scanned her, she started to show the earliest signs of improvement," he said in a telephone interview. "She is now in a minimally conscious state. She is able to produce responses occasionally but not consistently."
So far, Owen said, it appears that people are more likely to recover from traumatic brain injuries than losing consciousness because they lacked oxygen -- such as Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman who spent 15 years in a persistent vegetative state and was allowed to die in March 2005 after a long legal battle.
