Mitt Romney engaged in a heated discussion about his Mormon faith with a prominent Des Moines talk show host off the air on Thursday morning. The contentious back-and-forth between Romney and WHO's Jan Mickelson began on the air (video link courtesy Breitbart.tv) when the former governor appeared on the popular program that has become a regular stop for GOP presidential hopefuls. But the conversation spilled over to a commercial break and went on after the program ended, where a visibly annoyed Romney spoke in much greater detail about his church's doctrines than he is comfortable doing so in public.
The footage was captured by the station's in-studio camera and posted on its website. But Romney, who is careful to portray a sunny and upbeat public image, clearly did not know he was being recorded. The candidate reveals a private side that is at turns cutting, combative and sarcastic, but most of all agitated at being forced to defend what he and his church stand for.

Strawman. I never said anything at all about the Catholic Church, because I know very little about the Catholic Church. I do know that they believe that I as a believer in Jesus Christ (who is God) am assured of salvation.
Mormonism does not. You gondramB will not spend eternity with Jesus Christ or God (two separate people) unless you are baptized and covenanted as a Mormon. Of course someone can take care of that for you after you are dead, so you have nothing to worry about. Right?

No you didn’t mention the Catholic Church but the Catholic church does two of the same things you mentioned about Mormons - claim they are the one true church and claim their leader can speak for God infallibly.
Every denomination has problems - this tendency to judge other Christians is one such problem that’s for God. If they ask forgiveness in Jesus’ name, worship the God of Abraham, love their neighbors and their works are good they have done what Jesus said was most important.
I was LDS for 45 years. I have experienced that it is not a Biblical Christian Church. When you have lived on both sides let me know. :-)

So let me ask YOU: What exactly is it that YOU fear might happen if this country elects a Mormon President? Can YOU even articulate it?

No, I don't feel insulted. I was just commenting that there is a misunderstanding by a lot of people on the difference between the two churches. The radical ideas of Obama's church are much different

My buddy in the sound booth at church worked in a limestone mine. They have 'streets' and 'avenues' cut in the limestone, with columns of rock left that support the overburden.
It seems as they get about 3/4 of the material this way.
Our previous Pastor and his dad used to work in a coal mine on the ILL/IND border. It was a below ground one, not an open pit like the ones mostly in IND.

We have a new website on The Washington Post/Newsweek called On Faith, and we have about 80 panelists from every different religion. The hardest group to find panelists for is Mormons. We have one Mormon, and that’s Mike Otterson, who is the spokesperson for the Mormon Church, and we keep saying, get us Mormons, get us Mormons, but nobody wants to do it. The only other problem we have is with Catholic priests. (Chuckles.) We did get some guest voices when we had a question on Mormonism. We wanted Bill Marriott and Harry Reid, and they both turned us down, and then I called Mike and he got them to speak out. But Marriott’s PR person told him not to do it, that it would be dangerous for Mormons. Basically what he said was, I love my family, I care about my community — you know, all the things that you would want to hear from somebody, and yet there is this real reluctance. I think that’s one of the things that lead people to believe that there is a secrecy, when in fact what they finally wrote was lovely and very compelling. |

The lack of allegiance thing, I think, is a mistake on their part. They are trying to emulate 1st century Christians but those Christians had no good choice for a nation to be faithful too.
I have not heard that Jehovah’s witnesses don’t consider Jesus to be the Messiah. Do you know a good source on that?

I, personally, will not be voting for someone
in a cult for POTUS - regardless if the cult is
mormonism, jehovah’s witness, Hare Krishna, etc.

I'm not a Mormon and have a great many disagreements with their doctrine, but this statement is just weird.
