Thursday was an important day in the battle for border security. It was further evidence of the Republican backlash against amnesty and border lawlessness, and an indication that the continued pressure is beginning to have its desired effect.
As reported by Lou Dobbs, in a rare rebuke of GOP leadership, 168 members of the Republican National Committee authored a resolution demanding a border fence and the use of all available means to protect our Nations borders - including deployment of the U.S. Army. Such RNC resolutions provide direction for GOP leadership and help set national legislative policy goals.
The resolution is scheduled to be brought to a vote of the full RNC membership today, and is expected to pass by a wide margin. Though non-binding on our legislators, it demonstrates the clear will of the Republican majority.
In addition, Thursday saw a remarkable about face by one-time GOP presidential frontrunner John McCain. Abandoning the comprehensive immigration approach that has nearly ended his presidential bid, McCain joined with Senators Lindsay Graham (up for reelection in 2008) and John Kyl in proposing an enforcement-only bill.

I don't believe a word they say.
They are going to attempt to sneak more pro-illegal alien laws through just like they wanted all along.
Now’s the time to turn up the heat!
Thats what I did inspite of the hitlery scare (boo) they used.
That is exactly what I did. I sent the last postage paid reply envelope back stuffed with pages that said “You betrayed me on immigration. No money from me.” Cost them around $.75 to find out I was dissatisfied.
ping
I sent my last request back with a “Bush Buck”. I got a call today with the Hillary scare. They asked if i would donate...I said no, I would be supporting specific candidates, not the RNC this year.
BTTT!
“I guess if enough people tell RNC fundraisers to go pound sand, there is an effect.”
“Thats what I did inspite of the hitlery scare (boo) they used.”
Apparently so. We told multiple RNC phone beggars to “buzz off” until the RNC shows some Pro American traits. Show us you are for America, NOT Mexico and we’ll support your efforts was our message to them.
That and rein in the RINO’s. Either be Conservative and work with your base, or forget it. Let the RINO’s run on the Dems ticket.
List of names of the 168?
I do the same thing with AARP, given their socialistic tendencies.
“the hitlery scare” (boo)
Someone was doing that earlier today, trying to scare people with that evil witch.
The topic can be Giuliani’s peculiar conservative views on the 2nd amendment, Romney’s epiphany on killing babies, or Thompson’s bashfulness (or even McCain’s anger-managment problem) and one of their fans will throw out:
“But you don’t want Hillary for President, do you?!”
(Cue piano, minor chord, as Black Bart throws open the bar’s bat-wing doors . . . )
Same thing: President Bush and the sad state of our southwestern border. Enforce our immigration laws? You don’t want Hillary for president, do you?
No. Now let’s stay on topic.
Next time put a brick in a box and stick their envelope on it.
” don’t believe a word they say.
They are going to attempt to sneak more pro-illegal alien laws through just like they wanted all along.”
You nailed it!
BS! I have a letter dated July 17th over McCain's signature attesting that he's still for comprehensive immigration reform. It was in response to a very critical email I sent him during the immigration fiasco.
If he's changed his opinion, it's been since July 17th. And I frankly doubt that. I suspect instead, that this is the beginning of an end run around the initial bill, trying to get segments into law one-at-a-time.
Be on your guard, FReepers!!
A republican revolt might also be a good thing in stopping dead efforts to use gradualism to create a North American Union. The proponents of the NAU are firm believers in using a “death by a thousand cuts” to slowly destroy US nationalism.
They are comfortable by mostly playing defense, stopping any return of US sovereignty, even if it means they can only inch towards their goals. This is why they are so adamant in stopping a US-Mexico border fence.
It is pleasing to note that many of their big projects have died the death when the public sees them and objects. This means that there are still a lot of republicans with backbone in the party.
If they passed legislation doing the following;
1. Real border security
2. Real interior enforcement
3. Immediate or near-immediate end to chain migration
4. Immediate end to the Diversity Visa Lottery
5. Stricter criteria for refugee/asylum seekers
6. An end to all federal and federally funded policies
of racial preferences
then I might be willing to listen to their liberal drivel about how to deal with the illegals still here.
Bump!
