O'Reilly jumps the shark
The O'Reilly Factor ^

On tonight's O'Reilly Factor, Bill used the Souther Poverty Law Center as an authority on "hate groups". This is the same organization run by notorious race hustler Morris Dees, a man local Montgomery Alabama area black residents accuse of being a con man that takes their money, yet does little (including hiring black attorneys for the SPLC). There are several references online to Dees con-artistry. Everyone from National Review to The Nation has called Dees out, yet O'Reilly has given him credibility. The SPLC has tarred a large number of groups with the "hate" label that are nothing of the kind, including the United Daughters of the Confederacy (which does heinous things like place flowers at confederate graves).
Discover The Networks has an excellent summary of Dees and the SPLC, with great quotes that reach across the ideological spectrum. Even the uber-left leaning The Nation magazine has a wicked writeup called The Church of Morris Dees.
Congratulations, Bill...you've now officially jumped the shark.

#24 photo made me LOL but I’m not sure why.

If they can dumb down their audience they can expand it. Sadly, several people I know have acquired their knowledge of history through movies like “JFK” and “Forrest Gump.”

What amuses me the most is that OReilly did one thing that should set off some fire works. He asked his viewing audience to check out the Daily Kos upon finishing his exchange with Dodd. Wait and see what happens when his viewers experience the culture shock of the Daily Kos. They will wish things were back to the days of the test pattern. Hehe. You're absolutely right. O'Reilly's audience probably includes a good number of people who have no idea about the amount (and toxicity) of the bile on these leftists Internet sites.
If these same people were to stumble upon some of zombietime's photojournalism of San Fransisco leftists in action, it might cause a few hundred heart attacks across the fruited plains (as Rush calls it). :)

[blush] I’m a double-spacer, too. [sigh]
I don’t recall really watching BOR. There’s a way he pinches his nose like he’s smelled an onion that just irritates me when his voice is added.

I have no use for Dodd. He was trying to make a very valid point, that is support for free speech is content neutral.

I receive the SPLCs publication every quarter at work. 20 pages of white separatists (all 200 or so of them) a page or two on some other goofy people and nothing in relation to the real haters and perpetrators of violence of our time.
From they SPLCs point of view they are those who cannot be named.

Good points. I would add that I think BOR really wasn’t prepared for the firestorm when he went after the Kos site.
That was very shortsighted. Then he tried to “balance” it.
Using Free Republic to make a point was a REALLY bad idea.
I can’t see getting that upset about his remarks, mainly because this little spat will cause lots of people to take a closer look at our site, and see that we are really the good guys!
Bill needs to square his shoulders because he’s in for the long haul here. Kos has nothing better to do than savage him, and with all the good news from Iraq, they’ll be looking for some sort of victory, say like BOR’s head on a platter. He’s a big boy and he can handle it, but he really needs to hang tough against the Leftie Loonies. They are ugly vicious vultures and the Kos site is their home.

“Everyone from National Review to The Nation has called Dees out”
Fascinating, the leftie Nation is onto him.
I got a fundraising letter from his group long ago. He sends graphic pictures of lynchings to people to raise money.
Race baiting is his life.

Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with O’Reilly, I think he is suffering from some sort of identity crisis. He needs to get a grip and do some serious soul searching before he makes other big mistakes, like comparing decent Americans with left-wing haters. That was a real sign that he is suffering some sort of conflict.

Who’s Bill O’Reilly? I don’t watch Entertainment Tonight.

I gave up on BOR several years ago when he tried to lecture the Isreali PM on Middle East politics.

That shark’s expression looks a lot like the Algore picture with a similar expression, except the honest shark is showing his teeth, while Gore hides his lethal fangs
Off subject a smidgen, but I had to say it.;-)

O’Reilly is amazingly ignorant on many of the topics he “reports” on. He’s apparently too egotistical to feel embarrassment at his own ignorance, but some statements he makes are so uninformed they really make me cringe.
