SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A California man has pleaded guilty to providing restricted software products to China, marking the first successful U.S. prosecution for illegal exports of military-related software code, U.S. prosecutors said on Thursday.

Xiaodong Sheldon Meng, 42, formerly of Beijing and now a resident of Cupertino, California, has pleaded guilty to violating U.S. laws on economic espionage and arms export controls, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement.

Prosecutors said Meng improperly installed a demonstration unit of a simulation product at the Peoples' Republic of China Navy Research Center and exported to China a restricted visual simulation software program used for training military fighter pilots.

Under the terms of a plea agreement, Meng faces a maximum of 24 months in prison and a maximum fine of $500,000. He will is scheduled to be sentenced on January 23 in U.S. District Court in San Jose.

Xiaodong Sheldon Meng, 42, formerly of Beijing . . .

Do you think if Bob Smith went over to Beijing to work with technical military-related software they would sit idly by while he frittered out their secrets?

Translated from Chinese, maybe?
Followed, I would suggest, by worst article content. Where did the defendant get the software? How could he do this alone?
Are we talking MS Fight Simulator or another commercial product? Secret military software?

What?

Add these two to the list, if you would.

U.S. may share missile info with China
WASHINGTON, June 4 (UPI) -- The United States would "seriously" consider sharing technology and missile warning intelligence with China, (Secretary of Defense Gates) the U.S. defense chief said Sunday.

U.S. carrier help? (Admiral offers help to China)

Adm. Tim Keating, the U.S. Pacific Command leader, told reporters during his visit to China last month that while building and operating a carrier battle group is complex, the United States is willing to help.

"We would, if they choose to develop [an aircraft-carrier program], help them to the degree that they seek and the degree that we're capable, in developing their programs," Adm. Keating said.

Bush is every bit as bad as Clinton when it comes to China if not much worse. Bush should be impeached over his China policies. There is no difference between the two of them on China both have sold us out.
