Jack Cafferty Just Blamed Bush For Minn Bridge Colapse
CNN | 8-02-2007

Posted on 08/02/2007 4:15:15 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

Jack Cafferty was just on CNN with Wolf Blitzer and said that if we weren't spending a total of 1 Trillion dollars in Iraq we could have repaired that bridge and all of the bridges in the U.S.A. instead of building new bridges for roads in Iraq.

He laid blame on...guess who? But of course...Bush!

When all else fails...CNN and the Liberals find a way to blame Bush.

Don't the Democrats run that state for the most part?

Forgot to add this excerpt:

“In 1990, the federal government gave the I-35W bridge a rating of “structurally deficient,” citing significant corrosion in its bearings.”

Just read an article that said that these deficiencies have been noted since 1990...There was heavy equipment on the bridge doing repairs and cars were backed up...he saw a connection with this AND the 3,000 cracks that had been identified...one or more finally gave in.

That would be why the yesterday’s White House’s statement said that states are responsible for bridges. A little preemptive strike.

If this happened, then Cafferty is an a-hole.

There are no votes in loading up bills with pork to repair bridges. Constituents want new stuff.

Here’s that article posted here.

And if my taxes weren't going to illegal immigrants, welfare & food stamp recipients, worthless entitlement programs, and pork projects, I could be retired at 56 and driving a Porsche Boxster with a 20-year old Swedish model in the passenger seat, lighting my Arturo Fuente for me.

Did he read the report about the War on Poverty costing over Eleven Trillion Dollars (and counting) with no end in sight? Reminds me of a two year old asking “why” over and over again. What a putz. No, what a LYING PUTZ! That’s better.

Back when Leslie Stahl was hosting Face the Nation, "infrastructure" was always a Dem talking point, faithfully repeated by her to all Bush Admin officials.

Richard Darman OMB was a favorite target.

After Bubba and the Missus came to town, I don't think the word was ever spoken again.

Cafferty is a crabby old drunk who wasn’t bright enough to be a weatherman, so the gave him a job at CNN, where the failures from all other networks congregate.

I’d heard about this today, with the added kicker that the bridge was found to be defective in 2002 (not true, but this was secondhand) and scheduled for replacement in 2008 (also don’t think this is true).

Actually one of the dutie sof the President is bridge repair. He actually has a construction helmet with the presidential seal on it and a presidential jack hammer.

Bill Clinton had 8 years to repair this bridge. Can’t we lay the blame at his feet?

http://www.dot.state.mn.us/newsrels/05/08/10highwaybill.html

U.S. President George Bush signed a $286.4 billion six-year transportation reauthorization bill Aug. 10, 2005 that covers federal fiscal years 2004-09.

Although the details of the reauthorization package are still being reviewed, Minnesota state and local governments can expect to receive about $3.5 billion in federal transportation funding through 2009, an increase of about 46 percent (or about $1.1 billion) over the previous six-year bill.

Liberals LOVE centralism/nationalism, they have worked to build the US more that way.

Hence, of course the responsibility lies with the NATIONAL government for Dems. Because that’s the way it SHOULD be in their little world. Nothing should be up to locals or anything.

Since they love centralism, one-worldism and the UN so much, why don’t they blame the UN?

I saw that in the Constitution. It spells out that the President needs to build and fix and maintain all infrastructure.

Thank you. I’ve been deflecting these arguments about zero-sum with the “get rid of welfare” tac myself.

If we didn’t WASTE all that money on non-payback welfare crap (especially individuals, but businesses also manage to suck it out), wouldn’t we have more money for doing inspections and repair?

Of course, for liberals, it’s ALWAYS about MONEY. They are very materialistic. Just like they think spending 12k per pupil makes everyone more educated. Gentlemen, I give you, D.C.
