Worldwide Caution Public Announcement
U.S. Embassy Tbilisi released the following Warden Message on August 7:

Media sources have reported that a missile was fired from an aircraft and landed without exploding near the village of Tsitelubani, near Gori, on the night of August 6-7. At this time, there does not appear to be any danger posed to U.S. citizens in Georgia due to this incident. The U.S. Embassy would, however, like to remind American citizens that due to the volatility of the political situation and high levels of crime in the separatist areas, the U.S. Embassy advises American citizens not to travel to Abkhazia or to South Ossetia. Because of the restricted access of U.S. officials to Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the ability of the U.S. Government to assist American citizens in these regions is extremely limited, even in emergencies.
