I don’t think a large barge could cause such a sudden, complete collapse and not be in the vicinity.
Get in the independent explosives experts. Rule that out, and there will never be any questions about it.
Other than that, this is the result of design flaw and years of vibration that culminated yesterday at about 6 PM.

And what do you take for your blood pressure? :) DC commutes are painful when you just live 11 miles from the Hill, I can’t imagine a commute like yours.

Unless it was just some local Moslem Somalis on their own mission. Even this doesn't wash out. Just placing explosives haphazardly would not bring down the bridge, someone would need to know exactly where and how to place them. An amateur would have probably put them on the piles and from everything I've seen the piles were intact.
Anyone with the means and ability to do this would have gone after a much more high profile target.
This WAS NOT terrorism.

If everyone is sure it was NOT terrorism, then bring in independent explosives experts to check.
It’s cheap, it’s easy, and it’s extremely noticeable.
That way questions are forever silenced.

Last night an eyewitness reported that a sheriff’s car was blocking a hole that appeared to have been drilled into the concrete of one of the lanes and his buddy commented that “this looks suspicious” prior to the disaster.

I tend to agree. Not a high profile target that a large, organized, group would go after. No claim of credit that a smaller “mom & pop” operation would be releasing to gain notoriety. Though it might be wise to consider a disgruntled construction worker or DoT employee trying to make a point and succeeding beyond his/her wildest dreams.

I just dont think that terrorists would target Minneapolis - St. Paul. This is a city that is friendly to the liberal though that the war on terror is just a bumper sticker slogan... plus, it is a city that houses more members of CAIR outside of the DC metro area. That is what makes St. Paul a perfect target.
The best place to strike are in areas where you don't stand out. IF there are lots of CAIR members in the area, then fewer people would be suspicious of a group of CAIR members walking around a bridge.
Remember, New York is "friendly" to liberals as well.
To: xzins
I agree with that.
The other thing is that there were no reports of anyone smelling explosive material and that would have been very noticeable.
Someone last night also mentioned that a dam near this bridge failed about fifteen years ago, it is very possible that the dam failure could have caused structural problems that didn’t show up until now.

No, but just you wait. Ol' buddy Farakhan will be along shortly to claim that Bush blew up the bridge.

Here is the next Interstate bridge that will probably fall into the water. The old I-10 bridge in Lake Charles, LA This bridge is old, built in the 50s, is steep, shakes, they cannot keep light bulbs burning because the vibration burns out the bulbs, scary to cross, is rusted, has way more traffic than it was designed for, and was weaken by hurricane Rita. I ALWAYS take the 210 bridge, but the I10 bridge does have those cool pistols as part of the guardrail.

Here we go again with the breathless premature reporting: 1st it’s 4, then it’s 6; then later it’s 9 on 1 station and 7 on another. Then it’s down to 4 again. *sigh*
