Just turned on the news. 35W bridge collapsed in the Mississippi River. Cars, trucks, semis.....
Fires burning, tanker trucks, at least one school bus, more than ten cars......
Just now breaking.......
It was built in 1967...only 40 yrs old.
The bridge is 40 years old. Built in 1967.
A$$wipe Cherkoff needs to be diggin’ holes for fence posts along our border with Mexico.
Do you enjoy seeing "text-speak" on a message board? A serious one like FR? I think it cheapens the site. Anyway, this whole issue is off-topic and has no place on this thread.
You are way too serious, this isn't church. Please give the poster a break.
PS Did you know a bridge collapsed in MN?
You think wrong. It is about half that.
They're exaggerating. I figured you were somewhere else. It's a couple hours up the river from me. 90's in Aug is expected. That kind of temp doesn't effect bridges though. Unless they're built badly by not allowing for expansion/contraction from say -60 to +120.
"And if they found all the defects, it was not a contributing factor. But not if they did not.
Obviously the engineers in control did not have a handle on this matter. The bridge collapsed under their analysis and direction for repair work, while people were on it. I have no faith in their ability.
Yeah, this has happened a zillion times - someone says "at this time there's no indication incident (whatever) was terrorism" and then people here twist it into someone from the government "ruling out" terrorism soon after an event, something I've never actually heard said immediately after any sort of incident by an official spokesman.
This bridge is 40 years old. Opened in 1967.
terrorism already ruled out /sarc
Ever been on the bridge to the Keys?
Others? Trans-sexuals, most likely.
This catastrophe will be pinned on........GLOBAL WARMING!
And this has been the wettest and coolest summer in many many years here in normally hot TEXAS. No global warming here... as a matter of fact, we are wanting 90 degree days so our crops of cotton will start growing.
Geez, Im going on the Tappan Zee Saturday. Re Throggs Neck arent they working on it or just finished. The Whitestone is being worked on now. I am in Pelham Bay/Throggs Neck area.
I HATE going over the Tappan Zee
“Google Earth” layer brings it up. Says the bridges look warped in terrain mode. Well, they’re worse than warped now.
Hey Deffie...long time no chat. FReepmail me sometime, will ya?!
Mark Furhman *just now* tentatively suggested ‘sabotage’....(on Hannity)
I live 65 miles south of the cities. It has not been hot enough for the heat to be a factor.
For those of you who can understand such engineering terms, I found a link from the Corp of Engineers with specs for the Mississippi River system. On page 104 (in my Adobe browser) it shows the I35 Bridge information in St. Paul. Maybe one of your engineering type of people can explain all of this in layman’s terms.

No, I mean the one right next to the one that collapsed. In the map it says “cedar ave”
