O'Reilly Factor Provides Free Republic Offending Comments Links

Edited on 08/01/2007 4:30:51 PM PDT by Admin Moderator. [history]

I received an e-mail today from the Fox News producer who booked me for the O'Reilly Factor last night. The links have been forwarded to Jim Robinson for review.

Jim asked me to start a thread with the links so that Freepers, and everyone else, could see for themselves what the fuss is about.

The Hillary Clinton stray bullet assassination comment was a very bad joke comment that someone posted two days ago. It was flagged last night after the O'Reilly Factor broadcast and was removed by a moderator. It is available for the time being in Google cache:

To: Virginia Ridgerunner I like my scenario better:

After eight years of the economy faltering, interest rates are 19%, 900,000 people are dead in Iraq since we left, taxes have gone up by 60% and Chile, Bolivia and Columbia are now Communist regimes, a stray bullet at a NARAL rally catches President Clinton and kills her.

As they take away Cindy Sheehan she screams why did she have to remove the troops? We were winning.

The next day the dow goes up 2000 points and closes at 2150.

Don't even bother trying to defend that one. Assassination jokes have no place on Free Republic. Yes, Cindy Sheehan has written of her fantasizies about killing President Bush--and she's not joking, but that's her problem. We're better than that.

The "homosexuals are dogs" comment is taken out of context. The actual quote is "Homosexuals are the modern day dogs in the manger." That was in reference to an article about proprieters in the U.K. not being allowed to deny hotel accomodations to homosexual couples on account of religious belief.

The American Heritage online dictionary gives this description for the phrase: dog in the manger, NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. dogs in the manger. One who prevents others from enjoying what one has no use for oneself. ETYMOLOGY: From a fable in which a dog prevented an ox from eating hay he did not want himself.

That comment was posted two days ago and has also been removed by the moderators. It is available for now in Google cache.

The "I hate blacks" comment was nowhere to be found in the other threads referenced.

The threads are about crime in the black community, gangsta culture and Jesse Jackson. Two of the threads are in the Smoky Backroom.

Bill O'Reilly has jumped "the Andy Rooney".. on his (No Spin) skate board..

The Fonz jumping the shark was an indicator of creative vacuum..
O'Reilly knows nothing of FR OR CARES.. Andy Rooney don't really care either..

O'Reilly and Rooney are dung beetles.. interesting only because of what they are rolling smells like.. Their shows/act's ask you to pull their fingers.. or smell it..

The whole reason O’Rielly attacked Free Republic is to appear “balanced” when he attacked the Daily Kos. I think this whole balance thing has gone to his head. Sometimes balance is unnecessary because some problems require only one answer: the correct one. The whole Fox News network should just drop the obsession with balance and just say what they believe. Aren’t we far enough away from the Depression and the Civil Rights eras that we can truly exercise free speech?

I heard someone accuse a FReeper of posting that on O'Reilly, but I've never seen any posts against any race.
Behaviors, though, are fair game. They're a "choice."

“It isn’t everyone, of course, but there are a large number of people on here that should keep their mouth shut most of the time. That will never happen though.”

Interesting. How about citing some posts so we can figure out what you find offensive? I’ve been posting here for about 6 years, and lurking two or three more, and I’ve found it necessary to hit the abuse button about 4 time, IIRC.

I’ve been involved in some pretty acrimonious threads, too.

The whole reason O’Reilly attacked Free Republic is to appear “balanced” when he attacked the Daily Kos. . .

Exactly. . .and no stats as the 'per' negative ratio to the good; or just 'reasoned'. . .responses, either.

Had their been; then FR could not have been so unfairly offered as the 'Right's' packaged hate as is the Left's Daily Kos. You do not have to search for degradation, Kos style when you visit.

Would offer that O'Reilly 'research staff' needed to use FR 'search mode' to find their information. . .and obviously embellished a bit a well; because they needed to.

Lanny started whining right on cue “The Right has hate sites. FreeRepublic is a hate site. Whah, whah, whah”

The only other "Lanny" I can recall was a kid I went to grade school with. I moved across the state and he went on to become the DA of Sheboygan County. He became (in)famous for his relentless prosecution of a single male high school teacher for "fornication". The evidence being that the teacher had left his vehicle parked in front of a single woman's home overnight.

Playboy made a big splash and came to the teachers defense. I believe that he was fired by the school district and left for quieter surroundings.

To this day the name Lance (Lanny) calls to mind a nasty little prig that uses the law for a club.

Regards,
GtG

Some people, on both sides, take themselves far too seriously. This, like almost every other verbal and written shouting match, is more about ego polishing than it is about content.
