I received an e-mail today from the Fox News producer who booked me for the O'Reilly Factor last night. The links have been forwarded to Jim Robinson for review.
Jim asked me to start a thread with the links so that Freepers, and everyone else, could see for themselves what the fuss is about.
The Hillary Clinton stray bullet assassination comment was a very bad joke comment that someone posted two days ago. It was flagged last night after the O'Reilly Factor broadcast and was removed by a moderator. It is available for the time being in Google cache:
To: Virginia Ridgerunner I like my scenario better:
After eight years of the economy faltering, interest rates are 19%, 900,000 people are dead in Iraq since we left, taxes have gone up by 60% and Chile, Bolivia and Columbia are now Communist regimes, a stray bullet at a NARAL rally catches President Clinton and kills her.
As they take away Cindy Sheehan she screams why did she have to remove the troops? We were winning.
The next day the dow goes up 2000 points and closes at 2150.

Don't even bother trying to defend that one. Assassination jokes have no place on Free Republic. Yes, Cindy Sheehan has written of her fantasizies about killing President Bush--and she's not joking, but that's her problem. We're better than that.
The "homosexuals are dogs" comment is taken out of context. The actual quote is "Homosexuals are the modern day dogs in the manger." That was in reference to an article about proprieters in the U.K. not being allowed to deny hotel accomodations to homosexual couples on account of religious belief.
The American Heritage online dictionary gives this description for the phrase: dog in the manger, NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. dogs in the manger. One who prevents others from enjoying what one has no use for oneself. ETYMOLOGY: From a fable in which a dog prevented an ox from eating hay he did not want himself.
That comment was posted two days ago and has also been removed by the moderators. It is available for now in Google cache.
The "I hate blacks" comment was nowhere to be found in the other threads referenced.
The threads are about crime in the black community, gangsta culture and Jesse Jackson. Two of the threads are in the Smoky Backroom.

So he made a booboo. If he is any kind of a man he will correct it. Bottom line is he looks out for our children. I'll give a man a lot of slack for that when otherwise I might not give him the time of day. I think Bill is in a slump but he is on our side.
I have a feeling it's all going to work out fine for all of us. Right Bill?
I don't think that O'Reilly understands the American right.
I'd say 0 for 3. An Internet joke about a fictional character being shot (there is no President Hillary Clinton) is not a wish for an assassination.
Frankly, I don’t like the loose definition of “hate speech” being thrown around like a beach ball.
We cannot ignore color or gender or culture when the issue is at odds with the laws and the fabric of the Republic of America.
For the most part, Free Republic is a color blind community. But we are not blind to trends and cultures that threaten our very existence as a nation. Hate speech is not defined as calling for enforcement of immigration laws. Hate speech is not defined as identification of a criminal or terrorist because of race. Hate speech is an accusation loosely thrown around as a means of intimidating anyone who speaks out against any culture that attempts to change or control the beliefs of the majority view.
I think O Reilly is a troll looking for ratings. I bet he gets his share of hate mail. I am sure, if his hate mail was published, it would be far worse than any comment posted on Free Republic.
I admire your ability to face O Reilly. But he makes it hard to get in a word edgewise with his self serving agenda.
Don't bother with this guy. I think we have a drive-by here.
Bill,
I challenge you to directly compare the participants here on Free Republic and the Daily Kos websites to a face to face debate on any issue, you pick them, give us a call, and we’ll be there...
I put our membership up anyday against the participants of the Daily Kos, and you sir are welcome to moderate...
That should be quite an eye opening experience!

(lets see if this comment makes it on the show)
There are still some tacky posts not pulled by the mods and we can do better, but I doubt it will happen. It’s sad that BOR can twist this stuff to trash us. I think the publicity is better than not though. People will see for themselves when they come to check us out.
Damn a bridge collapse in minneapolis, cars and buses including a school bus went into the water.

O’Reilly probably knows all about Dan Rather and doesn’t want to discuss the matter lest we continue the work we’ve begun here and pursue it to the point where FOX puts him on the street.
There was a thread discussing a column titled, “I Hate Blacks”. If that is what O’Reilly was talking about he
presented it dishonestly.
(No suck up , just the facts.)
My wife calls this place my cult site, she just doesn't understand why someone would be so interested in the discussion with like minded people.
She spends most of any extra time helping at the church.
Bless her heart. (Are there such a thing as coattails to heaven? ;-D
Ya know, nine years ago when I signed up I never thought a web site could have such an impact on the political scene, people's lives, etc..

Just saw that myself. I’m just going to step away from the kbd for a while, I think.
You did a great job.
It is exceedingly rare to see anything disgusting on FR.
>> Must be where he gets his own material eh.
My guess is, there are a number of “professional” pundits who use FR as a source for material.
I can’t quote the exact case, but a couple times I have heard Rush expound on a news item and adopt a point-of-view on it that seemed exactly like what I just read on FR! Maybe a coincidence... maybe not.
And why not? FR is a superb news portal! All the news I care to read (and then some), and plenty of thought provoking comments, some of which even make sense. ;-)
