Yet it's a poverty-stricken, filthy and corrupt as it's always been. Yep. They never learn. Years ago when I was in Tijuana helping build an elementary school, the potholes were almost big enough to put a VW Bug in. They didn't have clean water, out houses, most of the men were gone, the women still chain/rope the kids to something while they go off to work, because they can't figure out how to do child care. So sad. Good people. But something is missing.

I've been throught Mexico well beyond the border towns. And I've witnessed anti-Americanism in every corner. There were exceptions of course but they were not "Mexicans" per se. The Tarahumara Indians for example, expressed no animosities towards Americans that I could tell, they just wanted to sell their wares.
