Depends. What I've typically heard is, as is taught in Mexican schools, that 1/3rd of Mexico was stolen by the U.S. I always point out that it was Santa Ana's incompetance and brutality that cost them the territory. I can usually get agreement on what a scumbag Santa Ana is, but don't expect more.
There is also the perception among many that most Americans are racist against Mexicans.

There are several factors they contribute to the anti-Americanism I've experienced. From a cultural point of view, Mexicos relationship with the United States has become strained to say the least. From the average Mexican'ss point of view, which isnt always right or well informed, the American government mistreats and abuses migrants on a regular basis. Factor in the envy created by rich tourists swanking through poor Mexican cities and towns and it's no suprise they feel the way they do.
Athletic competition notwithstanding, this isn't the antics of a people who are enamored with the northern neighbors. It's more a unique insight into the underlying sentiments felt throught that land.

My sister teaches school in New Mexico, and they don’t pull the “you stole our land” routine over there, because they know about the Gadsen Purchase, Louisiana Purchase, & Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago. It is only the Reconquistas that are “teaching” anyone that will listen that it was stolen. And those that are “learning” don’t question the validity.
