I'm sure you're not afraid of the occasional insult--sweets--but there are some very unlovely men out there as well as unlovely women. I just don't need to vent a chronic and unreasoning hatred at their lack of sexual appeal here on FR--it doesn't occur to do anything but ignore them. Why does someone who does not turn one on make one angry? I guess I don't have the kind of frustration that would fuel such a need.

But this mysogyny here on FR is alienating. I have seen several gangups of highly ungentlemenly "conservatives" behaving like LOUTS. Conservatives need women, and Thong Slut from Brazil isn't going to vote here, or stuff envelopes or make phone calls to the Senate.

One of the best writers IMO on the relations between the sexes isn't read much anymore--George Gilder wrote "Sexual Suicide" and made the argument that women civilize men and make them productive, that without them men were louts prone to criminality. He was castigated for sexism against women, but I found it instead a strike he was making against men.

I can't disagree with that. Or perhaps, to riff on that thought, it's the success persuading women that it's not their responsibility.

Then, I know a case of a woman who, unable to recognize civilized behaviour in a man, filed a sexual harassment against him (among other things, he was accused of giving her a bar of chocolate which had the word 'Passion' printed on the wrapping [she ate it before making the complaint!], and of kissing her hand.) There was no harassment, and the dude won in the end.

I guess I don't have the kind of frustration that would fuel such a need.

Let me give you a small pearl of wisdom. Men, at least the ones who haven't been castrated, are generally unresponsive to comments questioning their manliness, their sexual health, or their mental stability. Primarily because my status as a man is not dependent on the opinions of judgment calls of other women, or other men for that matter.

Excellent post. I’ve been watching you try to reform a couple of woman haters on this thread. I used to try to change the thinking of misogynists but had to realize that some men just hate women. They are almost always the ones who look for women from other countries because they know they can verbally or physically abuse them without recourse. They try to pretend it’s the fault of American women that they are looking for outside the US but they are just trying to justify why no good American woman would have them (and there certainly are plenty of wonderful American women). I think they have issues that cannot be fixed without intensive psychotherapy. Probably goes back to their childhood and hating their mom. But great try!!
