UK women 'least likely to care what men think'

Russian women are more worried about a man's seal of approval

Frank Sinatra advised in the song Wives and Lovers: "Don't send him off, with your hair still in curlers. You may not see him again."

However, it seems that British women couldn't care less after a survey showed they are the least likely to put effort into their appearance for the sake of men.

They have the lowest levels of concern in the world for what husbands, boyfriends and other male observers might think, with only 51 per cent caring whether men liked their appearance, the study said.

Japanese women were second bottom with 53 per cent followed by Americans at 56 per cent.

Indian, Spanish and Korean women were far more worried about having a man's seal of approval, but it was Russia which topped the poll of 10,000 women, with 77 per cent saying that they cared what their men thought.

Janet Saunders, of Clinique, the cosmetics company which commissioned the study, said: "British women like to feel confident and beautiful for their own pleasure and take pride in their outward appearance." Susan Quilliam, a relationship psychologist said: "It's a delicate balance. It's a positive thing in an equal relationship to reference the other person's tastes and preferences sometimes."

The survey also showed, that Britons are among the keenest on cosmetic surgery. Thirty five per cent of British women said they have gone, or are willing to go, under the knife for beauty.

Only Korean women were more likely to consider surgical enhancement, while just three per cent of Indian women condone it.

The survey also asked which of the 12 countries polled had the most beautiful women. Although most found their country's own women the best looking, Britons rated Italian and Indian women more beautiful than themselves.

I just hope that folks reading know how to tell the Russian scammers from the legits. I’ve seen too many people get ripped off by them. They’re very good at what they do.

Three years, huh? I'm pretty sure that by that time I'd be ready to say "Do svidaniya!" to her, too...

Now you’ve done it! I knew the world would eventually know that we English women can’t cook. What’s more, although I am half English, the othe part is Scottish and Irish. Have you ever seen an English, Scottish or Irish restaurant? And I don’t mean an Irish pub. We can’t help it. I remember my mother boiling the beef. But there must be something remarkable about us English people. I’m sure there is........

Correct. The brother of a friend just found that out, but before he lost any money.

That not-caring thing helps when you have teeth like they do. ------------------------------------------------------------ You can say that again! 10 years ago I spent 3 months in the UK and the two rarest things were finding a woman without a rotten front tooth and a man that wasn't gay.

Yeah, I thought about that too. But my wife has been muttering about getting cosmetic surgery for years, and I keep telling her she doesn’t need it. It seems what women are more likely to get the surgery to satisfy themselves than they are to satisfy their men.

That’s when they can legally divorce you and get a green card without the marriage appearing as if it had been a sham.

In the words of an obscure Rolling Stone song, "I'd much rather be with the boys" reflects the typical British male attitude towards women. This has nothing to do with homosexuality in most cases, but rather male comaraderie.

So British women don't give a rip because they figure the men don't care much about them one way or the other. IMHO

I find it humorous that broads think that they could be Xena the Glorious. If these people think that a sword welding broad would make any difference in Iron Age warfare they don't have a clue.

If civilization fell tomorrow these nasty Xena's would be hiding in the cellar fearing rape and pillage. Rifle warfare is one thing sword warfare is another.

Lesbians?

Just run of the mill women, in the post Betty Feiedan, post Hugh Hefner era. Women have succeeded in becoming just about as out-of-touch with tenderhearted goodness as the brute-male they "revolted" against, yet joined in promoting.

I grew up with a Mom who was English/Irish. She used salt. pepper, rosemary, and thyme and was about it. so I married a Cajun. HMMMMMMMMM. But I can break out in a sweat just looking at hot sauce bottles on the spice aisle.
