Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., charged that unanswered questions surrounding Tillman's death reach into the highest ranks of the Pentagon and beyond.

But not including Democrat political hacks like Waxman.

Former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld defended himself and took no personal responsibility Wednesday for the military's bungled response to Army Ranger Pat Tillman's friendly-fire death in Afghanistan.

The wording is an implication that Rumsfeld does bear some personal responsibility and denys it. He'd have to be aware that it was friendly fire for the basis for the reporter's account to be credible. As it's Associated Press, such poor journalism doesn't surprise me.

Another example of media bias.

What Rumsfeld SHOULD say as he sits in front of them...

I sure have missed posting this.

The military has really tried to fix a lot of the integrity problems since they had the honor code violations and cover-ups in the 90's. They now require annual ethics training and it's hammered in at all the service schools. Unfortunately, when some people screw up this bad, they tend to lie to cover it up.

There are so many safeguards in place to prevent fratricide that it's very rare that an incident occurs unless someone fails to follow rules of engagement (i.e., make sure of the identity of your target before you shoot). Once an incident does happen, the ones responsible know that they're going to be punished for failing to follow the written orders.

I doubt that most of the senior officers had any first hand information about this shooting. They're getting hammered because they didn't have adequate safeguards in place or failed to aggressively pursue an investigation. I also think that if the victim had been Joe Bagadoughnuts and not Pat Tillman that no one would have cared that much about the cover up.

"Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D-Calif., charged that unanswered questions surrounding Tillman's death reach into the highest ranks of the Pentagon and beyond."

He's lying, simply lying. This matter has been investigated about three times already, and the problem was with the field commanders, not the upper levels of the Pentagon or the White House.

Congressional Democrats are nothing but ghouls. They feed off of dead bodies for strength, whether they are hapless Katrina victims or brave soldiers dying overseas. Ghouls.
