Hi Bill,
I've been a subscriber to Free Republic for about two years. I've been involved in a lot of Freeper discussion groups and have led several threads, including one where I identified myself as a black Freeper, with no blatantly racial kickback. What the Freeper spokesman should have mentioned is that the discussion threads are SELF-POLICING...when someone gets out of line, my experience has been that somewhere down the thread, THEY WILL BE CALLED ON IT. Free Republic is first and foremost, a meeting place for conservatives. The discussions run overwhelmingly along ideological lines, that at times have racial subtexts. I have NEVER experienced blatant racism on the site. If I did I would challenge it, and so would others.

Excuse me?
it’s a title isn’t it....not a standing quote from a poster?
Well said...and thought.
Hi, Stanley. Many years ago I fired Howitzers at Ft. Sill. I hope I didn’t accidentally put a shell in your back yard. :)
I’m glad you are here, and appreciate your perspective. As you know, to true conservatives, race means nothing. It is all about the individual; that is how we judge people.
I have a good story for you regarding Ted Hayes, the L.A. homeless activist. He joined FReepers at an event in Santa Monica, in which FReepers engaged in verbal jabs with the Code Pinkos. The nutjobs were there to protest Bush and the Governator.
Ted joined a group of us for dinner and started by saying, “I was a Democrat because I was born black.” He continued explaining how the Dems with whom he surrounded himself were always negative. They were always complaining. They were jealous, petty, and nasty people. They were filled with anger that they directed at others. Then he started hanging around Republicans. They were friendly and helpful. The were good spirited and positive. They wanted everyone to succeed. Ted decided that he wanted to be a Republican.
No, you didn't and that's a good thing, for you. I'm an ex-cannon-cocker too, and you would have gotten a yard ornament right back ;-)
As far as the Dem by birthright thing, yeah it's a drag. I think it makes a lot of folks shut off their critical thinking skills. Guess I'm lucky to be a third generation Republican.
Nicely put.
Unless a poster self identifies, I always have trouble determining a his race religon or country of origin. I guess I’m more interested in what a person has to say than who he is.
Yes, it’s part of the title.
In my experience if one looks hard enough you can find something negative or offensive about any group or any person. I do no like when people seem to take delight in pointing out the one negative in a mostly positive situation.
I think you had Michelle Malkin very wrong. That woman has never impressed me as anybody’s stooge.
I’m not sure what we’re arguing here. Of course Kristinn had the backbone to go on O’Reilly’s show. Why not? There is nothing to be embarrassed about Free Republic. I have seen a couple of racist posts, which were quickly deleted, and the authors sometimes had their accounts revoked. I also looked at the two supposedly racist threads, and all I could say was, “typical O’Reilly.”
The thread topics were taken from other media sites and linked. This is an open board, with the intention of disseminating stories and columns available on the internet. Yet O’Reilly tried to make it seem as if Free Republic somehow supports race hatred because two stories with racial topics were posted here. There are threads about the bible here, that does not mean that everyone who posts on this board is a Christian. There are threads about going to Mars here, do you want to go there?
The presence of those threads, even had they been offensive, is a non story. Yet O’Reilly tried to make it look like something is wrong here. He has to know that what he said is nonsense. That is smearing and hate mongering.
Nice work.
Oh yes!!!!
I surely understand what you are going through. But is sometimes fun to watch the moonbat’s head explode.
LOL
And you know you’re right!!!
I have met freepers both in DC and here in Texas and have ALWAYS enjoyed their company and conversation. Kristen and the DC Chapter are worth the trip alone
The difference between the moonbats and Freeper people is Freepers love their country, enjoy life and hope everyone else is doing the same. And yes, my first FReeper event was they Inauguration of GW.
Happy Anniversary!!!
Interesting how BOR can take one post and apply it to the entire FR community. I do recall some threads that were negative on Mr. O, but I think they related to some sexual phone calls which he was making to a young staffer, which he failed to mention and which was quickly hushed up by Mr. I with a out-of-court room settlement.
O’Reilly didn’t opine on that news item at all
I didn't stutter.
He came to Texas, Crawford specifically, a couple of years back.
His demeanor did not win many friends.
I do think some of the Freepers have been disgusted with him for quite some time, and it’s because he’s shallow that most of them do it.
Your right why are we arguing?
I cede your point.
Thank you! I wouldn’t stay here if I thought it was otherwise.
