I taped a segment on the O'Reilly Factor for airing tonight to defend Free Republic against charges that it is a hate site. The segment will air in the 'D block' around 8:35 p.m. EDT and rerun at 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. EDT.
Rather than tell how it went, I'll leave it for folks to watch and decide for themselves. I hope I did right by FR.
We'll be having company tonight as some of Bill O'Reilly's two million-plus viewers check out FR for themselves. So please bear that in mind as you comment tonight. The Daily Kos is waging a very nasty personal campaign of retribution against O'Reilly. No sense in us piling on. Let's use this as an opportunity to show people why FR is the best conservative site on the web.
In case you didn’t see Kristinn Taylor interviewed on O’Reilly, the video is now up on the Fox News site.
Here’s the link and then just look for Kristinn Taylor's photo, then click on that.

Update 2: The link to the Fox News site which is hosting the O'Reilly video works best with Internet Explorer.

FWI Bill, a thread is an article written elsewhere. Some are greeted at FR with outrage! And are printed here to show folks an outrageous article for the sole purpose of refuting it. FR does NOT support such articles, we comment on them. Unless it is a vanity, we do not write them. A thread is not a posting. In other words, articles written elsewhere are put onto the site for discussion. A post is a response to an article, and any you sited, are harshly condemned.
I’m a new FR fan, and I love the relative sanity of responses. Most seem to censor themselves.
I also like Bill O’Reilly. Usually fair, but a tad too critical of FR.
Not so fast. What’s your alternative? NBC?
Here is the thread I found. O’Reilly completely mischaracterized it.

Gay activist tries to arrest Mugabe - again

Brussels - A prominent British gay rights campaigner tried to make a citizen’s arrest of Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe on Monday over his human rights record, but was knocked to the ground by the president’s bodyguards.
Mugabe, who is on a one-day visit to Belgium for talks about the central African peace process, is a hate figure for many homosexuals, whom he has branded as “dogs”.
Peter Tatchell of the British gay rights group Outrage yelled “Arrest Mugage, arrest the torturer” as the veteran African leader left the Hilton Hotel in Brussels.
In the ensuing scuffle, Tatchell was pushed to the ground.
“I am OK, I fell down,” he said afterwards.
HEAR HEAR!!
The people will shut O'Reilly down. Folks don't watch NBC, CBS, and ABC. Folks listen to talk radio and FNC. The only ting that will change is folks will only listen to the radio, if O'Reilly keeps it up.
After tonight, the only reason why I will watch his show, is so I know what products to boycott.
If you try to talk over him, they'll cut your mike!
I wouldn't hold your breath. I imagine O'Reilly has an ego.
Welcome to FR. I see the site has gained quite a few new members since The Factor aired earlier today. I’m going to fire off an email to BOR and thank him for giving FR some pub.
Gotta disagree with you here. I think getting into a yelling match with BOR would have just played into his hands, because he wanted to bash a conservative site so he could seem "fair and balanced" when attacking the Daily Kos. They didn't provide Kristinn with the quotes used beforehand, so he could not research them and challenge him on them. If Kristinn tried to aggressively take on BOR, BOR would have just yelled over him and cut back to his conversation with Ford. It would have just played into the liberal stereotype of conservatives as unreasonable, pounding-the-table types. Much smarter to appear calm and reasonable. The viewing public is not dumb, they see through BOR's tactics whether he realizes it or not.
Do you know anything about Glenn Beck?

Duh,,,I seem to remember a Border Patrol(the 2 agents)
report,,,not much I guess...;0)
Considering it is not 12:00 yet past Cumberland County you are where?
Welcome to FreeRepublic. I hope you will find lots to interest you here. Breaking news gets here as fast as anywhere, and then a Freeper in the neighborhood of the breaking news shares more than reporters can.
The threads from Katrina are classics.
BTW, the report abuse button is magical. “It” plus and explanation, erases objectionable posts. I have used it to ask moderators to get rid of remarks that I have made that were erroneous, as well as to point out nasty posts. And they are gone within minutes.
No since sending an email to O'Reilly. The only person who will read it is a DNC worker.
I for one am proud to call myself a Freeper and wear their lefty scorn as a badge of honor.
Kristinn, I caught the 11 PM rerun of the interview and I must be frank. I respect you greatly, but you let Bill walk all over you.I understand that being sandbagged on TV is even hard for a proven master like "El Rushbo" to defend against.I know its easy to say sitting in my seat far from the hot spotlight and the cameras eye, but as a viewer and a Freeper, I have to tell you how it looked from my end...
As Rush posted after "Mr. Potato Head" tried to ambush Ann Coulter with a call from Mrs. Silky Pony:
...I know how these things work, because I, ladies and gentlemen, have been on these shows and have been ambushed too. That's why I don't do these things, it's not productive.
Ann Coulter was clearly ambushed. If you listen to the transcript and you listen to what Elizabeth Edwards said when she called in, it was a script she was reading. Now they've put out a fundraising letter on their website and in an e-mail, because the Edwards campaign is foundering, the Edwards campaign is in trouble. They need money.Look, it's easy, you go on television, you finish, and somebody says, "You know what you shoulda said," and sometimes I've resented that...
I agree with you. I don’t think Kristinn had a chance to define anything. BOR is afraid of the internet.
This is an example of reason number one I seldom turn the TV on anymore . I listen to talk radio and read web sites .I try to keep an open mind . But not when it comes to liberalism .
We better stick together ,because it’s only going to get worse . We and our God are hated and the very ones they made this hate speech for .Nothing to do with hate at all .
