Infanticide and Unintended Consequences in Maryland

A grisly case in Maryland has the pro-abortion movement distressed that a state law banning the murder of an unborn baby could be used against a woman accused of killing her unborn baby. This is what unintended consequences sound like to the abortionistas.

First, here are the preliminary facts in this gruesome case. As of this writing, four pre-term infant bodies have been found at the Ocean City, Maryland, home of Christy Freeman, according to published reports. Police made this discovery after Freeman had been taken to a hospital bleeding heavily, and doctors found a placenta and an unevenly cut umbilical cord. The hospital alerted the police, and the police found the remains of a newly delivered baby boy in her bathroom sink.

Folks, this is all happening about thirty miles down the road from me. The whole Delmarva area is aghast, as you might expect.

This is going to end up being a very odd case. For surely this woman is going to say those babies were stillborn.

Then what? She gets prosecuted for “improper burial”, something like that?

OR....even IF, say, she made those babies be born....well isn’t this a form of partial birth abortion?

Keep an eye on this one.

Not that this woman isn’t a nutcase. One baby is one thing, all those others, you’re talking a tad insane as I see it.

I hope this loon wants to see her case in court.

She could very well show, (at least the fence riders), just how illogical the whole “choice” thing is.

I don’t get it. If you want to get technical, all she did was practice abortion (on herself) without a license. Didn’t she only do what late-term abortionists do on a daily basis? No death certificates needed for ripped out fetuses. “Keep your laws off my body,” etc. Why shouldn’t the NOW crowd ride to her aid?

If this were to get serious publicity, it could wake up the public.

I thought this was the kind of thing that those safe and legal abortions were supposed to prevent.

Neither do I. I fail to see the difference between someone else who is legally sanctioned to kill the fetus, aka an abortion doctor, and the woman doing it herself.

If the law is written that way to excuse abortion, then I don't believe she can be charged with a crime for doing the same thing.

If so, it will be interesting to see how people react.

Unlikely. I was reading details about it on a news website from the liberal NE, and the reactions were predictable--as in "If only she had taken advantage of the chance to have an abortion before she got so desperate!"

Roe v. Wade legalized exactly this practice. Several of the justices had self-administered abortions in mind.
