Detroit is one of the few places I can think of that would IMPROVE with an influx of illegals.
My dad worked in the auto industry for 35 years. He HATED traveling to Detroit, and had three of his closest friends leave after less than two years living in its suburbs. A rather depressing place and a cultural wasteland. The CITY, of course, should be evacuated and turned into a national park.

My only expose to Detroit, while on an escorted bus trip to Niagara Falls, was spending one night in Canada across the river from Detroit and listening to the Detroit metro screech around curves all night. Couldn’t see any passengers and didn’t go look as we had been advised to not go there. The next morning we drove right through Detroit and I found it hard to believe such a mess could even exist in the USA. Burned out buildings and cars, it was absolutely disgraceful.

What’s the real shame is all that incredible 1920s era architecture (high-rises) that are crumbling. If only that could be saved...

Detroit is one of the few places I can think of that would IMPROVE with an influx of illegals. While many here bemoan the impact illegals have had on certain residential neighborhoods, they generally provide a restorative effect in most inner-city regions.
A good case in point is downtown LA down by USC/Coliseum - a few years ago it was absolutely no go. Now, the former denizens have either been forced out or have moved further south (ie South-Central LA), with the result being that you can now safely drive around/visit museums + get some pretty good Mexican food to boot.

I disagree. I think we need to make the city look like Escape from New York. Builds wall all around, install wire, whatever. The, place all the illegals and the criminals to fen for themselves. “Life” sentence.
