Vest likely saved officer's life; $2,000 reward offered for information.

Authorities are still searching for two suspects in the shooting of a police officer Sunday night just south of the Glenwood Springs Airport late Sunday night.

The bullet was stopped by a bulletproof vest and the officer did not sustain serious injuries. The officer’s name hasn’t been released.

According to police, a Glenwood Springs Police Officer was doing a visual check of a storage area just south of the airport. He observed someone jump down off of a fence. He then noticed two males walking away from him. He gave several verbal requests for them to stop.

One of the men turned and fired multiple shots, hitting the officer once in the chest from around 10 to 20 feet away. The officer returned multiple gunshots as the two men fled south, but was unsure if he hit either man, Wilson said.

The investigation shifted on Monday from search tactics more toward investigation.

Glenwood Springs Police Chief Terry Wilson, right, talks with Garfield County Undersheriff Tim Templon who is also commander of the All Hazards Response Team.

I just hope he got the return fire request signed by Sutton, before he returned fire.

Glenwood used to be a nice place to visit. Now it is overrun with Hispanics and hippies.

Vest likely saved officer's life;

Thanks for the ping george!

A vest saved my partner's life, although a bullet penetrated his side where the vest didn't cover and he is paralyzed from the waist down! As bad as that is, he wouldn't have survived if he hadn't been wearing his vest.
Vest are very heavy, hot and uncomfortable, but it's worth the discomfort for the protection (although summer's are very tough)!

I am surprised that we do not see more vests in that picture above.

Are the vests lighter, cooler, and stronger now ?

Glad that your partner survived.

Hopefully the community will push back now.

The cops can only do so much without community support. Mexican and LA gangs apparently have been moving into this ‘easy’ area.

Bruno may have generated some attention too.

This is a small example of what America is going thru ?

I am sure that Glenwood is a perfect example of what the US is going through. Unless a very good solution is implemented soon, I believe that Americans will start to push back. I am ready now. I want to burn a Mexican flag in a public venue. I want to see active measures taken by members of the community against businesses and individuals who either hire, harbor, or sympathize with illegals. This is our right and our duty. If the law enforcement or political types try to shut us down, they should be targeted as well. This problem will continue to get worse until we the people deal with it. If we do not want to see war on our soil, the time to act is NOW.
