This is really too bad - I had no idea he was even sick and from time to time wondered if he’d ever get another show on the air. His show after Letterman’s in the early 90s was really underrated - not as good as the Tomorrow Show, but what really could be?
Man, yet another relic from my childhood gone. The first time I ever saw Bob Weir was on his show, playing with Bobby and the Midnights. I also saw Tom Petty, circa 1979, which featured a conversation that went something like this:
Snyder: A lot of people say you sing too much like Bob Dylan and aren’t much more than a Dylan impersonator. Does that bother you?
Petty: Not at all. I figure in 20 years, you’ll have some kid on here and ask him, “A lot of people say you sing too much like Tom Petty...”
