I didn’t know he was still alive.

I also heard a rumor that Tom Snyder died of leukemia. Haven’t seen confirmation.

He was was one of Sweden's great film directors. His most famous film, The Seventh Seal, is an intense study of death, mortality and the our human fate. Max Von Sydow was outstanding.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

He had to move to Germany because of the confiscatory tax system in Sweden.

Best film of Mozart's immortal Zauberflöte ever made.

The Three Spirits whisk Pamina to safety.

Papageno telling a big fat story to Tamino about how he slew the monster.

The Three Ladies being charmingly naughty.

The Queen of the Night in full revenge mode . . .

It's very well sung . . . if you don't mind hearing a German opera in Swedish. That occasionally causes my ears to do double-takes in well known passages. . . .
