Methinks John Paul Stevens or Ruth Bader Ginsberg are on the verge of retiring.

Don't get your hopes up, the track record of Republican Presidents nominating conservative (so they thought) judges is quite poor. Don't forget a lot of the liberal SCOTUS judges currently on the court were nominated by Republican presidents. George Bush senior sure got bamboozled by Souter.

That’s okay...let ginzberg or stevens retire....I like 5 to 3 conservative decisions....let Bush not send another one before he leaves office. They’ll be screaming for Bush to nominate some one just for “balance” but he can just hold back and let the 5 rule over the other 3. Even with 4/4 split decisions concerning the conservative rulings of lower courts; those rulings will be left standing.

So go ahead Shumy, cut off your nose to spite your face!
