I too hope that Fred is this sort of candidate and leader, and await his formal platform.

Fred's early speeches and writings indicate that he is against amnesty, he's for the fence and enforcement and he's for a tuff WOT.

So yes, when Fred gets in the race he can make the final sale with a formal platform that lays it all out.

I agree with your assessment and thanks for the comments.

What do you think is holding Romney down? He has raised and spent more than any other, he’s presidential looking and sounding, smart and articulate, yet running well behind???

Just the Mormon thing? Or something more substantive that I’ve missed?

I’m hoping... and so are many others.

I’m not for a fence. I see it as not only not necessary, but a step in the worng direction long term. But I can live with one, I just don’t want people to fool themselves into thinking this is the answer to the problem.

The issue that will decide the 2008 election is the War on Bush. The campaign that better distances itself from this disaster of an administration will win handily. It worked in 2006 and it will work again in 2008.

Thanks, Jorge.

Yep, if the RNC candidate is not both anti-Clinton and anti-Bush, it isn’t a winning candidate...

Every current RNC candidate is too “Bush” except Paul, who is too Clinton...

The 2006 Lesson - never stay home on election day unless you want your worse nightmare to come true.

This has been the refrain for close to a year now. We didn't lose in 2006 because conservatives stayed home, they didn't. We lost because the unaffiliated middle swung towards the Dems by 20 points.

>I’m pro-freedom, not pro-fence?....other than the hopeless hope of a candidate with no chance of winning anything, I mean. Now that’s funny!<

What has pro-freedom got to do with being pro-fence? The more indigent illegals and political foes we let sneak across our borders, the less freedom the future holds for American citizens., thus the need to enforce current immigration laws and to build Duncan Hunter’s double border fence.

Consistently conservative Duncan Hunter has been kept under taps by the MSM because he IS a consistent conservative. He is 100% for the sovereignty and strength of America and for good jobs for Americans.

The George Soros owned media is the antithesis of Duncan Hunter. But the word is getting out, and in the long haul, if I am not mistaken, true conservatives will vote for a true conservative, not a moderate or a globalist; not an Establishment owned candidate who will proliferate more of the same idiocy we have had to endure since Ronald Reagan was in office.

Duncan Hunter is the only candidate running, or thinking about running, who is well and fully equipped to handle the job required in these increasingly troubled times. If we love our way of life, we will support financially, and vote for Duncan Hunter in the primaries to preserve that way of life for our children and for our grandchildren. There is nothing funny about that!

Don’t really have an opinion on that.

Speculation: It may well be his religion as you remember it was a long time coming for a Catholic to be accepted as a President. It maybe his region, NE, although Guiliani fits that also. But Guiliani has a national acceptance from the 9-11 event.

Whether they stayed home (which many did) or swung to other side, it was a revolt against Bush and “compassionate” conservatism heading today’s RNC.

The lesson is the same either way. Divided we fall...

Draft Cheney?

First of all, let’s get some more endorsements for Duncan Hunter. He has some very good ones so far.

When has a fence ever been a symbol of freedom or strength?

When has a fence ever solved a problem that can only be solved by real life unapologetic law enforcement?

Sorry, but you are suggesting that Hunter can’t overcome the same liberal press that everyone else must overcome, but he can overcome all the evils of the world?

You can’t be serious? He has had the same opportunities (28 years worth) to make a name for himself as a “leader” and simply not done it some how.

Yet you think he’s “the man” to lead the nation, when he can’t even lead his campaign?

Again, like Paul he is an important member of congress. That’s where he can serve us best. He should remain there.

But leaders have a unique habit of leading and neither of these men has that in their personal history.

Leaders lead because they don’t know how to follow.... Both Hunter and Paul are career “followers” politicians. Why don’t you get this?

Duncan is in the 1% clkass...and not likely to leave it. Historically there has been only one from the House to go to the White House.

Duncan won't be the second. Sorry.

Actually as a VP, Duncan would do better to get his name in public. His biggest problem is lack of exposure, and no amoount of repackaging will do that for him. It would also serve to launch his own campaign later.

“We” isn’t enough to win an election. A winning ticket needs to pick up swing voters too. They don’t dislike the Dems any more than they dislike us, or else they wouldn’t be swing voters.

The moderates who went D last round didn’t divide and didn’t lose anything to their way of thinking, because they aren’t conservatives.

Bloomberg is being groomed as a vote splitter too.

Doubtful that Bloomberg will split any Repub. votes. If he runs as an Independent, he's likely to take more votes from the Democrat candidate because he's more in sync with their views, and some who may not can stomach voting for Her Heinous might just vote for him instead.

Like I said, POA, you are showing selective seeing. Maybe you need a class in remedial reading. Who said a fence was a symbol of anything? A fence is to keep unwanteds out. Unwanteds who threaten our freedoms ultimately. Maybe I’m talking over your head. You moderates are beyond reason.

Hunter has since proven that he is not able to connect with or excite even a small base of his own party much less a broad electorate.
POA, I cannot see that Hunter is running a campaign to win. He goes on H&C and talks about the border/Ramos and Campean. Why didn't he set up with Sean to talk about his campaign more? What better opportunity to reach out to Conservatives when he's not well known? That was a national audience. He could have done that. At the presidential candidates' dinner in NH, the Hunters talked about Duncan Dwayne's race, not Duncan's. Watch the video. Why would the Hunters do that?
Hunter will never break out. He will bow out and the campaign donations in his PAC will legally be used for Duncan Dwayne's campaign. There's nothing wrong with that except that donors from Texas or Kentucky aren't interested in supporting Duncan Dwayne's campaign.

My, my. So, there's a double standard, right? You can say any rude thing you want, and it's OK? But, when the tables are turned, you're off crying to the mod.

The lesson is the same either way. Divided we fall...

And united, we fall...

There are not enough Republicans to elect a Republican President...

Thompson may appeal to most all of the liberal and moderate Republicans and maybe some Conservatives...He however will not appeal to the Swing voters...The Independents...

Appears as tho Hunter is doing well with the Independents...Tancredo is doing well also...

If Fruity Rudy is nominated, he likely will win with the Democrat vote...

The other top 3 don't have any more of a chance as Bob Dole or Bush Sr...
